Someone suggested I turn the Work in Progress pic for my Court of Swords AU that I recently posted into this throwback meme, and I thought, why not? Just added one further tweak for a bit extra swording.

A bit of aeronautical silliness based on my Court of Swords AU setting idea where Weiss pretty much accidentally starts Remnant A-Team with Pyrrha, Jaune, and Blake due to hijinks, and the news eventually gives them aliases based on the Sword Suite of Tarot because they all use swords of some kind.

Work in Progress because this is one panel is part of a six-panel, two page final comic showing a parallel between how Weiss's team and Ruby's team handles pirate problems (based on the prototype pirate concepts shared by Sheena Duquette). Here the Court hijack one of the fighter aircraft from a remote Atlesian air base whose commander is secretly in cahoots with air pirates to take take on air pirates. In this AU, Blake is their designated hijacker, because part of the joke is that Adam made everyone in the White Fang who raided with him learn how pilot via Microsoft Wattsware Flight Simulator in case they needed to tactically acquire aircraft. As you do.

Those familiar with it from media probably recognize that's a Harrier jet with Manta bits slapped on. I chose the Harrier because its rounded, stubby profile I felt could fit with Atlas aircraft aesthetics, and because I've loved that jet since I saw the Harrier scenes from True Lies as a kid in the 90s. Given the Manta and the Bullhead are fish (looking up on Google, the latter is a catfish), I'm gonna keep with the fish theme and call it a Tarpon fighter-bomber. Because it's not the usual fish you see used as a military vehicle name, and I like how "tarpon" rolls off the tongue.

Attributions: Unlike my usual edits from IQ and main show screenshots, I drew the characters freehand here since they tiny that I can gloss over the lack of detail. Though I did still get the GLyphs and their weapons from show screencaps, since they looked too jank when I drew them freehand. I used this Sea Harrier model by Robert Digiorge in Sketchfab as my guide for the Tarpon, with the linework and coloring style in conscious imitation of artist Robert Masucci, whose art I got introduced to by u/Positive_Fruit_2802

I've wanted to do something like this for a while. I often combine my since-childhood obsession Battletech with RWBY in posts on r/fnki, but since this is less meme-y it belongs in this sub better.

Clan Elementals in Battletech are genetically modified gigantic warriors in heavy powered armor so tough it can shrug off the first salvos from full-sized mechs trying to fend them off. They're basically meant to jumpjet in groups and try to go after mech joints or rip mech pilots out of their cockpits. This, of course, makes them absolutely scary to infantry. And outside armor, they're pretty much Hazel sized or even larger, depending on the art depiction.

The glowy lines around Hazel's eyes are Enhanced Imaging Neural Implants. Basically something that helps operators of Mechs or suits like this get sensor input and neural feedback more directly, at the cost of causing mental instability the more it's used. I thought it fit very well with Hazel's angry face from the source screenshot.

The modified Elemental armor model is from Mechwarrior 5, thanks to work done by BoukObelisk in Nexusmods.

A Monochrome edit I made as a small additional birthday present for my wife today. Monochrome is her favorite RWBY ship, and she used to be absolutely obsessed with it when she was still following the show before it slipped out of her interest around the mid to later parts of the Mistral volumes. She still follows the show from reading stuff online and, well, asking me. :V

Premise behind this is Weiss helping Blake, who wants to be more open about her Faunus ears but has some lingering misgivings, by declaring Blake's bow hers now. (Links to image sources in comments.)
