22 years old, 3 months with a hair system – my honest experience (with photos)
I wanted to share my experience because I rarely see people around my age posting about hair systems. I’m 22 years old, and I’ve been wearing one for about 3 months now.
For context, I started losing my hair pretty young. It affected my confidence more than I wanted to admit, and after thinking about it for a long time, I decided to try a hair system instead of waiting until I was older.
Honestly… it has been a rollercoaster.
The first week was amazing. Looking in the mirror and seeing myself with hair again felt surreal. Nobody around me noticed it was a system. Friends, coworkers, even my barber were surprised only after I told them.
But then came the learning curve.
I’ve made almost every beginner mistake:
Used liquid glue and got adhesive everywhere.
Got glue in the hair itself.
Applied the system crooked.
Had to remove and reattach it multiple times.
Learned that tapes are much easier (at least for me).
Maintenance definitely takes time, and I won’t pretend it’s “maintenance-free.” You have to clean it, style it, and learn what products work. It took me weeks before I felt comfortable doing everything myself.
The good part?
I genuinely feel much more confident. I don’t constantly think about my hair anymore when I’m outside. I wear what I want, go out without a hat, and people simply treat me normally.
Would I recommend a hair system?
If you’re willing to learn and accept the maintenance, yes.
It’s not a miracle solution, but it’s also nowhere near as scary as I thought before getting one.
One thing I don’t see discussed enough is younger guys wearing systems. I always felt like I was “too young” because most people I found online were in their 30s, 40s or older.
So if you’re in your early 20s and considering one, you’re definitely not alone.
Feel free to ask me anything. I’m still learning myself, but after 3 months I’ve already learned a lot.
