Food Panda Scam
Yesterday, we ordered food to our hotel near Mall of Asia from Yellow Cab thru Food Panda. I paid our order through credit card. Minutes later, a call claiming he is from Yellow Cab said that the rider booked by Food Panda is from San Jose Del Monte, Bulacan. Upon checking the rider tracker, it is indeed from SJDM. So I told the caller that the same thing shows sa app ko. They said they would just book a Grab Express rider to deliver the food, however they would have to pay cash and then they would just cancel my order from Food Panda. Without knowing this scam, so I just accepted it. When I received it and paid for it on Grab when it arrived, it notified Foodpanda that my food had been delivered. Proof of delivery was the one taken by the Grab rider. 850 pesos was deducted from my credit card and then I paid 850 in cash.
I know I shouldn't have trusted the caller, I should have verified it on the food panda app before I claimed the food. Maybe it's safer to just always use cash as the mode of payment on food panda. I've also read that there are many scammers on food panda especially in Metro Manila.
