how do tires work??

how do tires work??

Hey all, pretty new to biking and having a Kona, like a week ish new.

I love my Kona, it’s been a joy already for commuting and riding some gravel trails near me.

I don’t do mountain biking, just hasn’t been something that interests me. I got the Kona for commutes and eventual bikepacking trips. However I enjoy road rides and logging miles. Which leads me to my main point, how small of tires can I comfortably put on the Kona Unit? Obviously I will still be on gravel trail/country back roads at times but sometimes my miles take me on stretches of pavement and my current wheels are pretty big for churning the road.

I don’t mind having the weight of the Kona while riding, just looking for slimmer tires to roll smoother/quicker. Or maybe there’s another thing to try?

I bought the bike off marketplace but pretty sure wheels are stock. Picture attached to help.

This might be a stupid post or make no sense but I’m just tryna log miles on my bike with slicker wheels to help. Thanks!

Okay I bike now

Shared in here a few weeks ago hoping to make an old trek work, bottom line you all let me know it was wrecked.

Shortly after I hit the marketplace and online shops to find a good bike and a better deal. Ended up finding this Kona Unit 2021, reviewed too many reviews, posts, videos and snagged it. I only rode it to work and class Thursday then hit this ride to my next rural town over.

Now I’m feeling a road bike itch so I can log miles easier.

Biking is pretty cool so far.

Could this be viable?

Hey all, I’ve been wanting to get into trail riding and bike packing over the last two years now, during this time I’ve had a bike that was too small and really just used as a commuter bike on campus. I unfortunately lost that bike due to my schools negligence but I have happened upon this Trek Antelope 820 and am excited to work with this as I’ve seen these bikes become a big discussion piece and great pick up for some people.

My main questions and areas of confusion are simply, will this be a bike worth the money? I know I will need to upgrade and pour some money into it but I’m wondering if the project is worth it at my current entry level experience and needs? I desperately just want to get on a bike, ride for a few hours and eventually do some short bike pack trips before committing to a week trip to start.

I’ll attach some photos of the bike, please feel free to leave any advice on what I’ve asked or danced around, and anything else you think I may need to know.

I don’t need glitz and glammer, I just need to get on some decent worth it wheels and head out for a few hours pedaling.

Thank you!

EDIT: I’d like to add I will also be using this as an everyday rider for work and such around my town. So that is also a factor on worth and insight!
