This is kinda in relation to the feat from the recent death battle but now we know why those infinite timelines were destroyed

In both instances of Prime using the Retcon punch it basically describes him being capable of changing events so that what is new has always been the case which is LITERALLY what a Retcon is.

Not to mention we know he in fact can choose what to Retcon because of the latest issue of Superman (issue 39) Manchester black outright stating that he could undo all his past events and just BE the hero he's always wanted to be.

Prime however doesn't want to because he says that would be cheating. Which honestly speaks on his growth as a character

I've seen this be used as an argument for Sentry where people say "Superman learned how to do it so it's clear that being in a similar range of power as Prime means sentry could learn the Retcon punch"

I want to know where that came from. Like is it from this panel here? Because if so this isn't the Retcon punch. This is Prime and Supes punching there way to the future but not the actual Retcon punch.

I feel one of the most glaring weakness for Sentry is his physical stability. The amount of times Sentry or Bob have been separated is kind of shocking.

One moment that's already been mentioned during the waiting period comes from Mighty avengers issue 33. In this issue absorbing man has absorbed some cosmic cube energy and has the power to warp reality. He tells Sentry that he'll alter is personal reality and he does, successfully separating the Sentry and the Void from each other.

Mind you it was stated numerous times that absorbing man didn't even have the full power of a cosmic cube due to only absorbing fragments. Hell the two weren't even able to rejoin until after reality was restored.

Another moment comes from the Annihilation scourge and I'm Sentry's most "stable" form. Merged Sentry. After doing some pretty fucked up stuff in wakanda (Thanks a lot void) Bob decides enough is enough and goes to read Richard's to get help on separating him and the void. Reed sends him to the negative zone due to its unstable and wild laws of physics. Bob goes there absorbs some of the energy from the negative zone and presto chango the void is separated.

However Bob was left powerless and yet again could not rejoin without outside assistance.

Alright... Hear me out.

We know that the argument for Sentry resisting the Retcon punch is that he could just place his memories into the mind of Paul Jenkins so he could shape his own creation.

However what if Prime Retcons Paul. Think about it. Primes world, the "real world" has the writers of DC, and Prime is canonically a Marvel fan so what if there are Writers from Marvel there?

At the end of his fight with TDK Prime ended up Retconing himself out of existence and basically retconed his own world. Giving himself a dog, Laurie being there, His parents loving him again, Him having powers, etc

So what if Prime Retcons sentry out of existence, Sentry places his memories into the mind of Paul Jenkins and then Prime Retcons the "real world" so Paul isn't a writer for Marvel

In the weeks building up to Sentry vs Superboy Prime the community has basically come to the conclusion that this fight is really close and it is. The fight comes down to one thing. Can Sentry survive the Retcon punch ? Some say he can others say he can't however some give a few examples and I got curious so I decided to give it a look.

1. Molecule man. In Dark avengers issue 11 and 12 Sentry comes face to face with Molecule man and Owen basically scatters Sentry's atoms destroying him. Now sentry was able to come back by pulling his atoms back together but this would be more akin to Sentry's matter Manipulation. I've even seen some people suggest that Sentry would scale to Molecule man however I don't think this is true because Sentry openly admits that he's not as experienced as Owen when it comes to using Molecule manipulation. Sentry then makes him go boom however there's nothing to suggest that he effectively kills MM just disperses him.

2. Morgan la fey erasing him from the time stream. I've also seen some people argue this however again there's nothing to suggest she actually erased Sentry from time. In Dark avengers issue 2 Sentry rips her head off, a few minutes later Morgan pops back up and destroys Sentry's body. She says that she could go back in time and erase them from existence.

HOWEVER. It's explicitly stated I'm Dark avengers issue 3 that while she can do this she doesn't because it would actively fuck things up for her. It's more accurate to say this was a bluff to scare them because while she knows she can't do that they don't know.

3. House of M. Yet another argument I see. People say that Sentry or rather the Void resisted Wanda's spell however this also isn't the case. It's shown in House of M issue 2 that Bob is still afraid of the void however he doesn't remember what the void is nor that he's the Sentry. Hell Wolverine remembered more than Bob.

And it was a mutant girl named Layla with the help of Emma Frost to restore everyonese memories entirely. (House of M issue 4 and 5)

I would say that's more of a testinate to bobs mental resistance. Even his memories erased he still subconsciously fears the void.

4. Paul Jenkins. The most popular one I've seen comes new avengers issue 8 and 9. This is where Bob supposedly "Retcons" himself back into existence. However like all the other ones this isn't exactly the case.

You see everyone in the world forgot who Sentry was and this was because of a villain known as the general. The general teams up with a mutant known as Mastermind. Mastermind is a phsyicic who can manipulate what people see, hear, feel, experience, etc. he planted what Emma Frost refers to as a "physic virus" into bobs brain making him forget who the sentry was and because Bob forgot he made everyone forget who Sentry was.

However This wasn't entirely successful and it took time for the phsyicic virus to fully take effect as Bob still remember who Sentry was for a little time long enough to make videos for reed Richards. Before he fully forgot though Bob transferred his memories into the mind of Paul Jenkins and so the only reference to sentry was the comics. However this doesn't seem to be a sort of meta contextual, Retcon type deal. Emma Frost describes them as a sort of diary, kind of like a record of all of the events Bob had been through so far. He was actively trying to have the world remember him

I'll give an analogy.

Imagine if everyone in the world forgot who I was, including me however right before I forget everything I put all of my memories into someone else's mind. This person then writes stories based on my memories.

​

So to the rest of the world only frame of reference of my existence is from a character in a book.

From what I've heard and read Sentry hasn't actually resisted anything on the level of the Retcon punch. Hell Absorbing man had some minor cosmic cube power and he was able to alter Sentry's personal reality and there wasn't shit he could do about it. The Retcon punch has also effected beings who were stated to be impossible to erase from existence like Prime trapper. So even if half these things were true I just don't see a way around it.

Whenever Prime has "Died" he's kinda just popped back up on Earth Prime. This is really impressive because Prime survived the effects of his own Retcon punch twice. My point is if Sentry tries to Kill Prime what's stopping him from Waking back up on Earth Prime and just punching his way back to the fight.
