At 52, feeling old, overweight, and out of shape 😕
A week ago, I went on a 4-mile hike with my family to celebrate Mother’s Day. It was tough; I struggled more than I expected. I felt like I was somehow ruining the celebration of my wife on her special day with our teenage kids, who kept checking on me as I huffed and puffed along the trail. It made me sad. Having run two marathons, the last in 2017, I never thought I’d feel this way, not at 52. I don’t want to be the out-of-shape, overweight man I am now. So, how can I get back into shape without risking injury? Watching my parents in their late 70s, sedentary in their recliners, glued to mind-numbing daytime TV, scares me. I refuse to let that be my future. How do I change my fate?
