What actually changed everything for me after 7 years of addiction wasn’t some trick or method.

I’ll keep it as short as possible:
The real shift was changing my beliefs , and that’s something people seriously underestimate.

What I mean by “changing beliefs” is this:
Instead of saying “I’m an addict”, you start saying “I’m not an addict, addiction was something from my past, not who I am now.”

And you reinforce that new belief with daily writing to make it stick.

I spent years trying to break a compulsive behavior

that was affecting how I saw people and how I felt

about myself. Tried tracking streaks, willpower,

accountability, nothing stuck long term.

What finally worked was understanding the psychology

behind the habit loop. Specifically, identifying the

emotional state that came before the behavior, not

the behavior itself.

I documented what worked for me personally ,

mostly based on cognitive techniques and some

practical stuff from habit research.

Has anyone here gone deeper into the psychological

side of breaking compulsive habits?

What actually moved the needle for you?
