Whisk(e)y Collection

Hopping on the band wagon of sharing my collection. I've been collecting since around 2011 but really started around covid. Started with bourbon and American single malt but have been gravitating more towards Scotch the last few years. Most of my bottles are open, less a handful of stock tater bottles and everyday drinkers.

Maybe not the best way to share my collection given you can only see about half of them in these photos but hopefully the ones up front are worth a glance!

Top Coat: Holo Taco Glossy Taco

Scarab Nails!

I tried out another color from my Mooncat haul this week, Jewel Beetle! It's a really cool shifty polish that changes from pinky red to green to gold depending light angles. I like to do an accent nail but had the hardest time trying to match or contrast this one. My wife came up with a great idea to burnish loose glitter (turquoise, green, and magenta) to a sticky base coat over a dark pink polish base to mimic the shifty nature of the Jewel Beetle polish. It turned out so well both of us were momentarily stunned by the sparkle! Pictures in different light levels included to try to approximate all the shades this one has.

Products:

Base/Top Coat - Seche Vite

Main Fingers - Mooncat Jewel Beetle x2

Ring Finger - Essie Bachelorette Bash x1 with Base Coat on top and Loose Glitter

TVX Tips with Defending Expansions

Hey guys, Plat 2 Terran here looking for tips or resources to help me get better at defending my expansions. Pretty regularly I will get into matches where the opponent is able to just run in kill my CC often before I can get my army over there to defend.

I usually play Bio widow mine in all match ups expect TVT so I don't make a lot of tanks but maybe thats part of my problem? By my 3rd or 4th expansion I'll have a PF or a PF with another PF out front and it still gets steamrolled while I'm trying to run over to defend.

Obviously I'm not the greatest player ever but I was hoping for any help you can provide that amounts to more than just get better.

Thanks in Advance!

Toxic Green with Ombre Accent Nail

I didn't want to decide what color to wear this week so I put on a blind fold and asked my wife to make it a mystery. She decided to go with our new Mooncat Manchineel Tree polish, a neon green with a really cool yellow/gold/orange Solar effect! She added an awesome ombre accent nail to mimic the color change effect of the rest of my nails!

The first pictures are taken in the shade, the later with UV exposure and the last photo with super exposure from a UV light on my thumb which makes the color change to a burt orange hue!

Application by my amazing supporting wife!

Products:

Base: Mooncat Get Even Nail Primer

Seche Vite Base Coat

Top Coat: Mooncat Speed Demon Top Coat

Ring Finger (Ombre):

Mooncat White Rabbit (Base), Eternal Sunshine, Acidic, Neverland

All other Fingers:

Mooncat Manchineel Tree x2

Pink Poison!

I was finally able to get my hands on Mooncat Death's Trumpet which always seems to be sold out (for good reason). It's a Solar Polish from Mooncat's Deadly by Nature collection which are all super cool!

I don't have a lot of pink polish experience but I'm really loving it! Death's Trumpet is UV reactive and turns a bold purple with solar/UV exposure.

Added Mooncat Maelstrom, one of my favorite green shades as an accent nail.

First pictures are with limited solar exposure, the second batch are with heavy UV. The final picture has only the thumb activated for comparison to non activated.

Painted by my amazing wife!

In honor of America's 250th birthday coming up I thought I'd get in the spirit with my nails this week! I had about 20 combinations ideas but went with this combo incorporating a cool thermal polish I got awhile from Mooncat which changes from white when warm to light blue when cold. I included pictures of the white form, half blue and full blue.

Werewolf's Bane

Recently got another batch of Mooncat polishes (I'm a bit obsessed as I've had gotten like 2 orders in a month) and decided on a blue/purple theme. Mooncat Werewolf's Bane is a holographic purple that I swear looked more blue when I put it on but now I can only see the purple. I paired that color with my new lilac Mooncat, Insomniac, a light purple creme polish on my ring fingers!

Included photos of both shade and sun but like most polishes, my phone camera doesn't do a good job of capturing the color I experience in person!!

Products:

Base - Mooncat Getting Even Nail Primer

Color (Main) - Mooncat Werewolf's Bane x2

Color (Ring Fingers) - Mooncat Insomniac x2

Top Coat - Mooncat Speed Demon Top Coat

Mermaid Nails!

I was really excited to try out Mermaid Bait from my recent Mooncat haul! It did not disappoint! Colors shift between turquoise, blue and green with a rose gold shimmer at certain angles! For science and because glow in the dark nails are awesome I added a glow in the dark base under the mermaid bait to my index and ring Fingers. The addition gives those nails a blueish tint rather than turquoise.

My lovely and talented wife did the application!

Fyi, I drew in my fingers on the glow in the dark shot so it didn't just look a pair of creepy eyes lol.

Products:

Base/Top: Seche Vite

Color: Mooncat Mermaid Bait x 2

Index/Ring: Mooncat Avatar State x 2 (Underneath main color)

Mental Game Struggles

Hey guys,

Plat 2 Terran ~2,600 MMR. I've noticed lately that my 1v1 game has been slipping hard and it's gotten me really frustrated. I think my problems are primarily mental.

I find that any time my opponent does anything out of the ordinary my brain goes into panic mode leading to my macro game sliping, me mismicroing units or just throwing my army away when I should be staying back. I usually play between 150-200apm but expect a lot of my actions are wasted due to being in panic mode and if I could slow down that might help too.

Does anyone have any tips on how they've overcome the more mental aspects of the game? Either specific game techniques or psychological ones. Or slowing down my game play? Any help or tips you can provide would be greatly appreciated! I'm at the point where I feel like I have to give the game up as it's more of a stresser than being fun.

Side note, how the hell does Terran counter the plat protoss meta right now (Stalker, Zealot, storm, collosus) lol? I struggle so hard with that match up playing bio widow mine. I've gotten better at baiting storms and mass vikings to counter collosus but it always seems like an insurmountable match up. I'd prefer not to change up my build too much but maybe it's just too much of a hard counter for someone at my level.

Thanks!

First of New Batch!

I just purchased a handful of really cool Mooncat polishes during their Memorial Day sale. Right away I had to try on 404: Soul Not Found, a crazily awesome magnetic that shifts from blue, to purple to magenta with a crazy shimmer galaxy effect when magnetized as a cat's eye! I'm very impressed and am probably going to have trouble focusing on anything but my nails for a few days. Pictures don't do the magnetization effect any justice.

Application was by my amazing and talented wife! So thankful for her!

Products:

Base/Top Coat - Seche Vite

Color - Mooncat 404: Soul Not Found

Thumb - Cat's Eye (Rectangle Side Magnet Wand Over Nail)

Fingers - Velvet Effect (Horseshoe Magent Under Nail)
