What’s the most isolated place you’ve ever visited?

Hey Reddit, I’m curious to know what’s the most remote or peaceful village you’ve ever traveled to? Somewhere with incredible landscapes and tiny houses where you can just completely unplug from the world. What was the vibe like and how did you find out about it?

Why do official passport instructions sound intentionally confusing sometimes

one government page says one thing.

another page phrases it differently.

reddit says something else entirely.

now i'm sitting here wondering if i somehow misunderstood my own birthdate.

Replicating the Andrej Karpathy LLM Knowledge Base is hard tbh

karpathy’s workflow post about building an LLM Knowledge Base is super validating because even he admits that compiling the raw directory into a usable state is a hacky collection of scripts.

We spend all our time talking about orchestration and vector databases, but the ingestion pipeline is what I think makes or breaks these systems. extracting web articles into clean markdown, downloading the images, chunking it, it's exhausting.

He said there is room here for an incredible new product instead of a hacky collection of scripts. I got so tired of my langchain scripts breaking on weird pdfs that I just started using recall, an AI knowledge base, as the ingestion layer. it handles the gross formatting, Summarize and organize everything for me and spits out a mapped knowledge graph, and since it has api access i can still hook it into my other tools. has anyone actually found a local script that parses raw directories perfectly without needing to babysit it?

Which country has the most beautiful lighthouses you’ve ever seen?

Hello everyone! There is something so peaceful and dramatic about coastal watchtowers. Where have you found a lighthouse view that was so atmospheric it looked like a painting?

does anyone else feel like progress comes in random bursts instead of steadily?

some weeks i feel super consistent and the scale barely moves. then randomly i’ll wake up a few pounds lighter after feeling stuck forever.

trying not to obsess over daily weigh-ins but honestly it’s hard when progress feels so unpredictable sometimes.

i know fluctuations are normal, but mentally it still messes with me more than i expected.

Marvel just made a last minute design change to Doctor Doom's costume for Avengers: Doomsday

— The belt and buckle around Doom's midsection has been completely redesigned

— Old design: rounder, less pronounced buckle from the Shanghai Merchandise Expo reveal.

— New design distinctly squared ornate plate more medieval, more comic accurate

— The armor piece just above the belt now has a slightly more bronze hue

— The iconic silver mask, green hood and shoulder clasps remain unchanged

— The change also confirmed something fans debated for months

— those early Doctor Doom photos everyone dismissed as AI generated were actually real

— The belt buckle in those "AI fake" images matches the new CinemaCon design perfectly

Is this model real or ai?

Something about her face and skin texture looks totally AI to me, it has that classic shiny, plastic look. also if you look at the background building, the windows and balconies get super distorted and messy the higher up you look. Fake or just crazy photoshop?
