Improv flight attempt. My GM idea.

So my players will soon attempt to steal an airplane and fly it over the ocean. None of them are pilots. Should be fun. I would like to male this into a (short) session of its own with a variable outcome My idea to play this:
Make a succession of four tonfive quick encounters: one for take off, two or three for the journey and (if they make it that far..) one for the landing. Each quick encounter could be broken into: piloting, navigating and engineering a rickety plane.

Or is someone out there with an addition or a better idea?

First Blood is not about Rambo, it’s about Teasle

At first glance the movie might seem an action movie. At second glance an anti-war movie about veterans, acceptance, law and order.

But here’s another take: the movie is not about John Rambo; it’s about a deeply traumatized veteran named Teasle who has to confront his inner demon.

It is Teasle who has buried his war trauma. And it is his inner demon coming out of the mountains confronting him with what he has been burying al those years by keeping up the appearance of a composed man AND by forcing himself in a position that gives him control over everything, earns him respect and gratefulness from all the friendly townsfolk.

Rambo, as a demon sets his world on fire, keeps returning. He came from nowhere as a sad man but the more Teasle tried to force him away, the worse it became.

The theme of the veterans plight is the same, it is Teasle’s plight however. Rambo is Teasle’s trauma.

Roofrack screws loose and leaking

Our T2 a/b Westy has a roofrack on the back. It is attached by bolts at the front and metal screws at the back. Those screws have loosened and the holes are too big now. This caused leakage and the roof is not secure.

How to re attach this roof: just use longer and thicker screws? I dont really like that option: the sheet metal is thin, the screws might leak again.

I would prefer using bolts, however, The inside construction of the roof does not allow a nut to be used. There is no way to bring this into place underneath the holes.

How to deal with this issue?

Using a lamps mode (music sync) as a trigger

OK, this is perhaps old news, perhaps not. I was fiddling with door sensors and wanted to make a tap to run to monitor whether any doors are still open. But tap to run does not check the sensors (I believe, correct me if I’m wrong).

I needed a trigger for a “ if trigger AND doornopen THEN send message ‘door is open’. A smart plug could ve used: if plug is switched on….

So then when its bedtime, you switch the plug on and TUYA checks all doors.

But I dont have switches or plugs that can be used because all plugs serve a purpose andnwill be switched on and off during the day for these purposes. The same goes for lights. I dont want tonget door messages every time I switch on the lights.

However: if I use a mode of a light bulb that is never used (music sync) and a tap to run to switch the lights mode to ‘music sync’ it can be used in the IF light A goes to Music Sync AND Door 3 is open THEN send message Door 3 isnopen.

Apparently in music sync the light turns red. The tap to run switches the light back to normal after 15 seconds.

Traffic on the WHW in October?

The WHW is popular and for good reason. I did it in may once, it was very quiet for what I recall. How busy is the WHW in October?

I GM for a party of three. All three are not yet used to proactive playing. One of them is generally clueless about what to do in a scene and needs constant reassuring and explanation. The other is a bit hung up on this idea that each encounter is a sort of riddle with only one correct solution ánd this solution needs to be reached by her character saying the exact correct words ( so no summary and a roll: i try to convince this npc with my charm and roll for persuasion) and the third mostly resorts to automatic fire.

I would like them to be more active in imagining the scene, figuring out a reasonable course of action and getting on with it. Encouraging them thus far hasn’t really helped. They seem locked in this idea that I am constantly setting s secret trap for them that they will walk into if they don’t do the exact right thing. This seems to be enlarged when I wait or ask for them to make a protective move.

How to deal with players who are reactive and suspicious?
