HCM Experience?

Anyone have HCM experience? At a major player in the 50-500 segment in the NYC area. It’s been brutal.

I’m relatively new to the company, but it seems just about all of my accounts have been on ADP for the last 30 years lol

Obviously going to take time to relationship build, but curious to hear from people in the industry or people who have left, what has worked for you?

Leaving job and commission?

Making the move and leaving my job. I wanted to hear everyone’s experience with receiving earned commissions after their departure.

For context, commission is paid out the following month. I get paid out on go-lives, not when the client signs. July commission would be paid out in August.

I couldn’t find any stipulations in my comp plan that says I wouldn’t receive this commission for July, but wanted to get everyone’s thoughts.

Has anyone ever had issues getting commission owed to you after you leave the company?

Update**

Contract reads “An employee must be actively employed for at least sixteen calendar days in a fiscal month to be considered active for quota, performance credit, or incentive compensation”

So I am assuming I would be good for July since I was in seat for the whole month?

Take new Job or Stay Put?

Hey everyone! Been on this thread for a while now, but first time posting. Was hoping for some career advice.

To preface, I’ve been an AE with one of the major HCM companies (don’t want to dox myself lol) for almost 2 years. My role has changed quite a bit, but for the past 8 months or so it’s been strictly inbound sales. Leads are typically companies 1-49, but have worked larger opportunities up to 100 employees.

Reason for leaving is base salary is absurdly low at $55,000. However, comp structure has recently changed for the better and with accelerators, I am at 34% per deal and can even top out at 45%. My commission for June-August should range between 6K-9K. Leads have been good and pipeline is solid after so many months struggling.

Was offered a Major Market role at Paylocity where I would be working with companies with 50-500 employees in a designated county (Near NYC). Base is $105,000 and comp is basically 10% of every deal up to 200K, and then 15% and so on. Career wise, I think working with bigger companies, closing bigger deals, would look great on a resume and the base is solid.

Now I know HCM sales is a grind in a super saturated space. Will take a few months to build up my book of business in a new role and will have to adjust to longer sales cycles. Where I’m torn is between the decision to make very solid, consistent commission in my current role for the short term, or make the jump in this new role with a higher base, but most likely not a ton of commission in the short term.

Would love to hear everyone’s thoughts!
