Genuinely how is this still wicking moisture.

Genuinely how is this still wicking moisture.

The setup usually has a thick synthetic window screen over this so soil doesn't fall through. I have to maintain a high water level because there will be nano fish so I can't afford to just lower the water level. So I thought a air barrier (egg crate) would be the best possible option because it's not even touching water or touching anything that would wick water towards it but yet it's still very damp. its wicking so much moisture it's leaving my soil nearly saturated.

Air circulation and feeding access issue.

I made this rain tray without really thinking about how the rest of the tank will work and I now realize that there isn't any real place for feeding access or fans for air circulation.

Any ideas?

My tank has been thriving for months now with great color and healthy everything but all of the sudden I noticed a lot of browning on the monte carlo and a ton of dead snails?

Now I would usually attribute this to bad water quality but I would figure the shrimp would die much before the snails since they are so sensitive to water parameters. (Water came back all within healthy parameters after being tested via test strip)

My only guess would be bad surface agitation or not enough light? I'm pretty stumped here

Last slide is what it used to look like ( this was with co2 injection though current state of tank does not have injection)
