Pain Pumps pros and cons do they work.
Hey guys. I’m writing this to see if these pain pumps may be the option to getting our meds verses taking them orally and getting our scripts from the pharmacies.
Need to ask if there has been anyone of the refit people on these type pumps and if they have what are the pros and cons. Like does the doctors office receive the meds each month for us to fill our pumps. Is there any procedures for breakthrough pain like an extra dose when needed or does it actually work better. I would think the dosage would be less since it’s I ravenously instead of orally right? Are they safe? Has there been bad reactions? Just all of the things all of us would be asking. I do t know of anyone that has ever had one installed.
So please guys if you have experience with the pumps please let us know. Man if this would release us from having to track down our own meds it would be a god send. If we didn’t have to depend on the pharmacies to get the meds and other doctors offices would get them. Imagine the stress alone it would take off of us you guys.
Please let us know what it’s like and do they work and how do the doctors office receive get the meds for the pumps or do we still have to get it and have the doctors put it in for us. Most of all does it work and is it the same meds just different form. It seems that it would work better because it’s going right into the bloodstream instead of our gut.
I don’t know if it would be like when they administer it in the hospital or what throgh an IV or not. Please guys I have tried to research these but there not many patients that say anything about it. It’s usually really good or really bad. So please let me know. I’m going to talk to my doctor about it so I can see what she thinks about them and how your body accepts it.
Thanks again guys you know I noticed the other day that my PM docs sign of her front door went from saying neurologist/ pain management to adding palliative care as well on it. I wonder if this is something that will help to get our scripts filled. I guess we will find out.
Thanks guys for taking the time to talk about these pain pumps. I’m going to research them a little more as well to find out all I can about them. Can’t wait to hear from you guys.
Thanks again.
