Ureaplasma
As I’m writing this, I’ve just got done crying for the umpteenth time today. I’m so frustrated and this infection is making me feel so depressed. I’m constantly on this app, reading research papers or asking ChatGPT about my symptoms. I have been dealing with this since March, (though I believe I was infected initially in January). I have been misdiagnosed with a yeast infection and BV several times until my doctor finally tested me for Ureaplasma in June which came back positive for ureaplasma parvum. She prescribed me doxycycline for 7 days. I had already started researching and knew I had it prior to the test results coming back. My doctor gas lit me telling me “discharge is normal” etc. I made sure to advocate for myself in order to get tested. On day 2 of taking doxycycline I just knew it wasn’t going to work. I called my PCP office again and requested another antibiotic (azithromycin) do take after doxycycline. (I’ve taken a microbio class and was familiar with how it can be resistant due to its biofilm). They told me to stick with my prescription and monitor symptoms and keep in touch if symptoms persist.
As expected doxy failed. They had me come in for another test 1 week later and tested me for the wrong culture. I then called back and they said they would use the same sample to test for myco/ureaplasma. ( 7 days later i have yet to get my results back). I was prescribed 7 days of moxifloxacin after crying on the phone to one of the nurses.
This has been my current routine for the past week and a half:
7 days: Kirkmans biofilm defense on an empty stomach
Uqora Defend urinary tract support (I plan on finishing the bottle which is a 1 month supply)
Day 8: moxifloxacin 10am (for the next 7 days)
Uqora defend urinary tract support 12:30pm
Kirkmans biofilm defense 5pm
I’m currently on day 3 of taking moxifloxacin and my symptoms have not improved, if not they’ve gotten a bit worse or that could be my anxiety. I’m considering calling my PCP tomorrow and requesting another 7 days of moxifloxacin. I can’t get an appointment with gynecology no earlier than mid August which is about 1.5 months from now.
I feel defeated at this point. Please if there is anyone who has any advice and what may have worked for them please let me know.
My current symptoms are urethral pressure/pain, warmth/slight biting while peeing, white/milky vaginal discharge (i feel discomfort/ itch when the discharge is passing), urethral inflammation.
