What do you do when you need acne help but derm visits are too expensive?

I’ve been dealing with acne long enough that I know I probably need more than just random skincare advice but seeing a dermatologist regularly is expensive, especially without good insurance.

The frustrating part is that I don’t even know if I need something like azelaic acid, adapalene tretinoin, clindamycin or if I just need to fix my routine first. I don’t want to keep spending money on products that might make things worse, but I also can’t book a derm appointment every time I have a question. I’ve seen more telehealth and app based options lately where they scan your skin, look at your routine and then a dermatologist can review everything before suggesting treatment. That sounds useful in theory but I’m curious if people here have tried anything like that?

Is red light therapy becoming a normal part of skincare now?

A few years ago I barely heard anyone talking about at home LED devices but now they seem to come up all the time.

If you've been using one, what made you decide to try it? Was it recommendations, research or just curiosity?
