hi! I’m debating on picking up a Facebook marketplace HEMNES daybed. The seller is dismantling the entire bed for me but is 2 hours away. I want to make sure that the bed would fit in my car for transport.
I drive a LeXUS NX model which is comparable to a CRV or RAV4.
ChatGPT is saying I should be ok if I put stuff diagonally but I wanted more input on anyone’s experience transporting
hi! I’m moving to the area and debating on a window AC unit vs an evaporative air cooler.
I heard the evaporative air cooler doesn’t work well in a humid heat since it basically humidifies the air even more.
Is the summer heat humid or more dry? I’ve never been to NJ before and feel a little clueless.
Also— any recommendations on AC/ cooling devices is appreciated
hey!! im 26F moving to the area and in search of some good gyms in the area! i would love to find a good weightlifting gym and a hot yoga OR lagree reformer class in the area! (i am moving near surf house in AP)
if you have any recs, i would appreciate it!
I walked into my first block of Step 1 and double checked that it wasn’t step 2. I walked out of step 1 feeling like I failed. I couldn’t remember a single question and sobbed for 2 weeks straight. I got a P today.
I also reported a testing interruption to NBME and they told me that my score would be on hold for a minimum of 15 days. I got my score on time, no delays. Please don’t let that score hold dissuade you from reporting. If you passed anyways they are likely to conclude the investigation.
I’m so beyond relieved to see that I passed and thought I would share my study plan in case anyone needs it.
First off, I barely touched UWorld during dedicated. I used about 59% during basic sciences for our in house exams and then never touched it again. What I did use from UWorld was their medical library.
I did every single NBME online with testing conditions. I would use the UWorld library to study my incorrects and guesses. And write out notes on those topics.
I did one NBME a week and 2-4 Pathoma Chapters per week for 6 weeks until Step. I reviewed ALL of Pathoma chapters and annotated the book.
I also watched DirtyMed on YouTube for Biochem.
NO MEHLMAN, NO ANKI — these things didn’t match my learning style that I had cultivated in basic sciences and I am grateful that I stuck with what I knew. Stay consistent to a few resources and don’t listen to the noise
Hi! I am about to enter MS3 in the US with one of the big 4 Carib schools. I am interested in surgery (+ fellowship in cardio thoracic). I know that this is a difficult task and would love some advice on how to boost my app.
I finished basic sciences with a 96, and have served in leadership roles/tutoring on the island. I also passed step 1 first attempt
Now that I am off the island— I would love to work on research. I have NO research experience and don’t even know where to begin?!
How does one find research? I know the case report vs systemic review (from step 1 biostats) but which one is most advantageous.
What is a poster? And how do you present one?
Any and all advice or unhinged tips would be appreciated. Thank you!
Has anyone else experienced the weird feeling of going into autopilot for this exam? I took step 1 on 07/06 and I can’t remember a single question I had. I remember flagging 8-10 Q per 20Q blocks— but I don’t remember a single question I answered.
I’m the type of student that could recall 200 Q exams in medical school and always reconstitute the exams to generate my score. I did this with CBSE as well. My NBMEs ranged from the 66-77 range. I made a 74 on CBSE. I just don’t know if the blackout was a panic attack and now I failed or if that’s normal 🥺
I know everyone says to trust the NBMEs but I’m not sure if this was my burn out or anxiety affecting my performance or just normal step 1 feelings.
I’m very confused about exam results. I know there is a delay for results lately. But I’m asking about how results before the change have been released ?? I’m hoping that they will revert back to their previous score release schedule now.
Is it two Wednesdays or three?
Is there a difference in exam score release if you take it on Monday (i.e. 07/06) vs Friday (07/10).?
Congratulations on everyone that has passed step! If you could write when you wrote your exam and when you got results I would be so grateful! 🙏
i’m a US IMG (SGU) for reference. Warning, this post is unnecessarily sappy.
I’m debating if I’m really ready for step 1, my school says that if you pass CBSE, you’re ready (but the school has an 82% pass rate so liKE?? ). I’m just nervous to sit for an exam, I’m feeling burnt out and haven’t touched study materials in a week.
My stats:
NBMEs: 26 (66), 27 (74), 28 (71), 29 (74), 30 (68), 31 (77), 32 (72)
UWSIM2: 70
NBME CBSE: 76 (taken 06/23 aka the last time i studied).
Idk i know that the exam is so close, but I’ve been crying everyday and just tired of studying. I don’t know if it’s worth it to take STEP next week or hold off until i feel ready to study again (and start clinicals late).
Thanks so much to the Reddit community for helping me out this far!
Hi! I’ve noticed that I feel like NBME’s feel easier than UWorld. I did about 50% of UWorld up until May and then focused solely on NBME for the past few weeks.
I made a 72 on my most recent NBME 32. (Under test taking conditions). I have consistently been scoring in the 70s.
I started doing a timed random UWorld block out of boredom / fact checking yesterday and I made a 40:/ After reviewing it, there were small little details that I forgot and just a lot of detail put into UW questions.
My CBSE exam is in 2 days (and Step 1 hopefully in two weeks) and now I’m kind of freaking out.
I wanted to ask about question style**, did anyone notice if the questions for CBSE/STEP1 were more like UWorld or NBME??**
Hi, I wanted to get some advice on what to do to study additionally for step/ CBSE!
I take CBSE in 11 days and am nervous that I won’t get the 66 on it. For reference, I’m need to pass CBSE in order to take step 1. So that’s my focus for now, because one step at a time 😅
NBME 26: 65 on 05/06
NBME 27: 73 on 05/11
NBME 28: 71 on 05/20
NBME 29: 74 on 05/25
NBME 30: 68 on 06/01 — idk what happened.
NBME 31: 78 on 06/08
NBME 32: 71 on 06/12
UWorld: 20% completed; 70% average.
I stopped doing UWorlds because I wanted to dedicate more time on learning the material through Pathoma and reviewing my NBMEs. I will probably start doing UWorlds again after CBSE but I’ve been getting super bored/passive with UWorld questions.
I feel like I know my scores are in passing range and I don’t want to sound like I’m complaining. My scores have jumped up and down within a 10 point interval within a week and that is terrifying. Any advice on prepping for a CBSE would be much appreciated!!! Thank you so much.
