Security backup on Blu-ray

Hi, I have a question for those of you who have made backups on Blu-ray.

I currently have a backup on an external hard drive, but I want to make another copy on Blu-ray. I’m not sure if it’s worth it to go with Blu-ray M-Disc (which is more expensive) or to use regular Blu-ray (which I’d have to check every so often to make sure the disc is ok).

The cost would be: 25 GB M-Disc for 5.93 € Standard 50 GB for 1.05 €

Obviously, the standard disc wins on price, but of course, it also deteriorates more quickly.

Thanks for reading.

Verbatim M Disc 25 GB ¿are really M Disc?

Hi, I've been thinking about using M-DISC for one of my backup methods. Where I live, the only ones I can find are 25 GB Verbatim BD-R M-DISCs, but I've read rumors that they aren't actually M-DISCs.

Is this really true?

Increase from 5,400 to 7,200 rpm?

I have a WD My Passport external hard drive for backups, but it takes quite a while. I think it's 5400 rpm.

If I buy a 7200 rpm one, would that make a difference?

Many thanks for reading.

Is there an algorithm for optimally distributing sets of files across Blu-ray discs?

Hi, I want to back up my GOG games onto 25 GB Blu-ray discs. Is there an algorithm for optimally splitting the games so they take up as little space as possible?

Thanks for reading
