Recovering After Gen AI campaign, July 6

It's official.

After my three-in-a-row successfully Kickstarter funded and backer fulfilled campaigns for Ultimate Cybersecurity Careers Guide, Digital Safety in a Dangerous World, and Technofascism Survival Guide (100% fulfilled on July 1st)...

Kickstarter approved my campaign for my fourth self published book...

Recovering After Gen AI.

Campaign will launch on ▶️ Monday, July 6th.

⭐ Visit my campaign page to sign up for notifications. No obligation to pledge.

Gen AI will END because:

- Datacenters cannot be sustained due to laws of physics (Harvard Science Review linked on campaign page)

- Financial bubble will burst, Pivot to AI's David Gerard estimates 2027. Economists I cite say "soon."

What do we do about:

- Population wide psychosis and cognitive atrophy?

- Environmental nightmare: droughts and heatwaves?

- Damaged power grid?

- Most popular software inoperable or buggy as hell through massive AI slop tech debt?

- An entire generation of youth without jobs?

- Seniors retiring without juniors to promote?

- Immense skills loss in the workforce?

I will interview psychologists, economists, engineers, psychiatrists, technicians, and environmentalists for their insights.

🗓️ Campaign launch, Monday July 6th.

🗓️ Estimated October 2026 publication.

Share! 🎉🎉

Gen AI is a major component of today's technfascism

Why is Gen AI technofascist?

Because every tech billionaire in Gen AI is *close personal friends with* Donald Trump and the Trump regime.

Because Gen AI is being sold to capitalists to replace all human labour, under a capitalist system where people not born into wealth require work income to survive, and for mass surveillance and "precrime," even though LLMs just repeat word patterns without understanding meaning and it can't competently replace humans (doesn't stop our overlords from trying).

I founded Stop Gen AI, which has Pivot to AI's David Gerard and now Johannes Link, the man this article is about (https://gizmodo.com/dev-says-hes-getting-threats-after-leaving-a-booby-trap-for-vibe-coders-2000765231), in our ranks. Check it out, we just had "how to avoid Gen AI" workshops this past Friday and Saturday, and they were so popular that we will do them again soon. Sign up fr our newsletter to be notified, we only take your email address and no other information: https://stopgenai.com

I'm publishing Technofascism Survival Guide in a week or two, which had a successful Kickstarter campaign last February. But I need more late pledge money to buy groceries and pay rent with:

http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/kimcrawley/technofascism-survival-guide/

Once Technofascism Survival Guide has been published and distributed to my backers, I will immediately launch a new Kickstarter campaign for a book about how to recover from the immense tech debt, skill loss, and environmental damage of Gen AI. My new friend Johannes Link will definitely be an interview subject and research source for the next book. I will also share news about the new book and campaign in a future Stop Gen AI newsletter.

This is a guide to all of the podcasts and YouTube channel appearances I and other Stop Gen AI members have done:

https://stopgenai.com/media-coverage/

I'm Kim Crawley, and I was a professor teaching enterprise cybersecurity at OPIT. But when they were going to force me to use TurnItIn Gen AI on my students, I quit due to my moral principles. I need your support. I know capitalism is rapidly disintergrating and most of us are poor. So if yu cannot afford to support a Kickstarter or donate to Stop Gen AI, simply signal boosting Stop Gen AI and my books on social media would be a massive, very much appreciated help.

Are you dismayed by what the tech industry is like now? Check out Technofascism Survival Guide

At the risk of overstaying my welcome here, I have a book Kickstarter that's taking late pledges until I publish in a week or two from now.

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/kimcrawley/technofascism-survival-guide/

I could use the late pledge money to pay my rent and buy groceries. I need the money, because my corporate overlords decided to replace me with Gen AI.

Thanks for sharing.

Free workshops on how to avoid Gen AI, this Friday and Saturday

It’s understandable if you feel helpless in the wake of our evil billionaire overlords trying to bombard you with the Gen AI torment nexus everywhere you turn.

You probably feel like you can’t get rid of Google Gemini or Apple Intelligence on your phone, Copilot tries to take the mouse and keyboard away from you at every turn even though your sticking with Windows 10 long after support ended, and your employer is judging whether or not you get to keep your job based on how many tokens you use.

We can’t directly do much about the last problem, but we can show you how to avoid Gen AI everywhere else!

Workshops are free of charge this Friday and Saturday, using the Jitsi Meet web app on our website. No need to register, no need to install new software because our video conference is all through the website.

For more information, check out our webpage: https://stopgenai.com/free-events-learn-how-to-avoid-gen-ai-workshops-june-2026/

Online co-op via Steam between Linux and Windows endpoints didn't work

My partner has a Windows 11 PC, and mine is running Kubuntu Linux 26.04.

Both of us are able to play a wide variety of Windows Steam games solo.

We are on each other's Steam friends lists.

But when we tried to play THREE different co-op games yesterday, we had no success at all.

  1. Deep Rock Galactic: Pressing Y or Triangle (depending on Xbox or PS style controller) to join a party does nothing, and nowhere in the interface can I see my partner's username, nor vice versa.

  2. Children of Morta: Hitting "invite" in the top left corner online multiplayer control on the screen with the characters' home hub does nothing. It's selected, we press it, we're both in the game with online enabled... nothing.

  3. A Way Out: We were both in the game at the same time, complete with obnoxious mandatory EA accounts. We couldn't see each other in the interface where you create an online party. In fact, the interface said to both of us that we had no friends online.

Both of us have IT backgrounds. And we were both talking to each other as we experienced this bullshit, through apps on our phones completely separate from our PCs.

My partner has a lot of crap on his PC, in addition to the sloppy nature of Microslop, out of employer mandated necessity, certainly not by choice. But he has not had any problems with any other online services. A hypothesis is that Microsoft Teams could be configuring the Windows firewall to block certain necessary TCP/IP ports, but there are no clues that that's the cause other than everything I've explained here. I have full control and ownership of my Linux PC, and I configure my firewalls to open any TCP/IP ports that I request through applications to use. I have had no problems with any online services before, even BitTorrent on my PC works great.

I'm Kim Crawley, and I'm a cybersecurity expert from the west who is currently suffering horrifically under capitalism. The current most obvious threat to my livelihood is my evil billionaire overlords think I can be replaced by Gen AI. I'm nearly two months behind paying my rent.

My friend Ryan is my comrade in my anti Gen AI political activism group (Stop Gen AI) and he uses his blog to teach people about how much better communism is, mainly by reading the speeches of Xi Jinping. https://wilson-reads.ghost.io/china-has-won-and-so-has-marxism-leninism/

https://wilson-reads.ghost.io/why-i-read-xi-jinping-thought-on-the-internet/

I have done tons of unlearning western propaganda to eventually learn that communism is good and the US are definitely the bad guys in the Korean War and all other wars, and the DPRK is good! It's that process that takes us years of critical thinking and questioning the bullshit we were raised with.

Please share that my successful book Kickstarter is taking "late pledges." I portray the DPRK and what Kim Il Sung did as an example of how we can resist fascism.

Feel free to do a thorough bit of web research on me and Reddit history. I was in this sub recently getting more pro-DPRK sources for my book.
