Another Power Keyboard review

Ordered January 5, shipping notice July 15 and received July 23 from Canada. Typing on it now.

Primarily using with my iPhone 15 Pro and typing is fine using the BlackBerry prayer method but typing while reclined doesn’t work well. The wobble is there but I don’t notice it unless I look for it. Power Keyboard does slightly block the main camera lens on the 15 Pro. I also tried it on my wife’s S22U and it completely blocks on of the lenses. Keyboard was usable with it but the bottom of the phone is awfully close to the number row.

Typing experience is probably closer to the old Curve than Bold series with the keyboard being a little more tactile than soft like the Bold. Muscle memory is still good but don’t expect to be faster on it than a touchscreen although I do enjoy the accuracy and overall feel.

Overall I like it and might buy a second gen version of it if and when this keyboard dies out. It’s a good product marred by an inconsistent delivery experience but the typing experience has me curious about the Communicator now.

Use Old Devices or Buy Key2?

I wad cleaning out a closet with my kids and found a lot of old Blackberry devices ranging from the 8110 to 9000 to Z10 to Passport (and many more in between).

I'm also currently awaiting a Clicks Power Keyboard. Despite pre-ordering 3 days after launch, I wasn't in the initial batch that was shipped and was hoping to have it for the summer since I need to be out of the office more to look after my kids.

I'm not expecting my Power Keyboard any time soon so I'm looking at other options. I want to use one of the old devices mostly to reply to emails and maybe WhatsApp, although most of my usage is email. I'm thinking I can get away with reactivating an old Q10 just for email. Plan is to rely on hotspotting or wifi while using my primary iPhone for most functions.

I'm also considering buying a Key2 and flashing Lineage to make it modern but it feels like another expense that just creates more e-waste even if I just keep trying to repair It over time.

Any thoughts are appreciated here.
