single leg balance, stacking hip/knee/foot

when doing any single leg exercises, i have a tendency to lean over and push my hip outwards, essentially centring my pelvis over the working leg, as opposed to having the hip/knee/foot stacked. i feel like this is an issue with my hip mobility or overall glute engagement. i want to address this before i hurt myself so i am looking for advice or exercise recommendations in order to correct my form.

when i try to force myself to keep my hips square, i just fall inwards, its like i cant balance without sticking my hip out. i dont have particularly wide hips so i feel like this can be corrected. i have a history of patellar dislocations caused by weak glutes and being overweight. i did a lot of physio and lost a lot of weight, and i havent had issues with my knee in years, but i feel like this is related.

if anyone can provide any advice or suggest some exercises that may help w proper stacking of the lower joints that would be greatly appreciated, thank u in advance

what other sports/activities do u do? do u find the skills transfer well?

i have played hockey since childhood and have been bouldering for ~9 years, and i think these 2 sports complement eachother quite well

climbing has improved my mobility and my ability to generate momentum/power through rotation, or from a place of tension. this has made a noticeable impact on my shooting mechanics and my agility/explosiveness on the ice. similarly, hockey gives me a strong foundation for balance and my footwork on the wall always feels cleaner when ive been skating more

it's especially noticeable when i have to take a break from one or the other. if i don't climb for a while my shot feels worse and i feel like i can't get as low to the ice, and if i don't skate for a while my balance and footwork just feels sloppier

curious to hear what the rest of this community does outside of climbing, and what skills u may find transferrable between them :)
