Why do pharmacists not care about/understand what an appointment is?
Hey all, I searched this sub for a while for a response to my question/frustration so I decided to post it myself to better understand.
I needed to get vaccination a few rounds, and had the misfortune to have my doc send it to shoppers close by.
In my first round, got an appointment online, showed up on time for the appointment and immediately got my shot. No issues.
Second time, I take up the same process, go to the store, get told not only are they not aware of my appointment existing, but there is not even a pharmacist that is capable of administering the shot. I get angry ofcourse but try to move the vaccine to another pharmacy, not allowed. Came back the next day with another appointment, all goes well.
Third time (which is today), I once again get my appointment and arrive on time. Get told that they have my appointment but they don’t have my vaccine ready. That I have to wait 25 minutes so that they can ‘get it ready.’ I tell them that is why I take the appointment, so that the getting ready for me part is complete. After a minute of back and forth, I ask the other pharmacist who I contact to talk about this and say this is not how an appointment works. Hearing that I will complain, they are so fast to get my vaccine ready that I’m done with having been administered the shot within 3 minutes flat.
So, my question is: what is going on here? Does my experience mean that they are perfectly capable of administering vaccines and simply choose to make people wait for 25 minutes? Do they get some kind of pleasure from having this power over people? Are they required by shoppers to keep people waiting (unless someone chooses to complain)? I’m upset about the whole situation but mostly about the fact that they WERE able to not only get the shot but also give it to me instantly, they just chose to lie to me first.
