Good morning!

Good morning!

Some Canarias to get the day going right before work
Had a great weekend, got a brand new snake who is settling in like a champ. And I have a date tonight with a very nice lady. Life is good, the mate is good, hope you all are good. Much love ❤️

Saludos

Hope everyone is having a great night. My new mate was finally released from customs and into my loving hands. Did a quick cure à la mate labs method and then used this mornings left over canarias to steep in there while i took a nap. Just packed it fresh with some Amanda, a brand I’m not fond of, and there was enough of a change in taste where i enjoy it a bit more. Ill still stick to my Rosamonte and Canarias tho ty. Salud 🧉

Hope yall are having a great night

Mini rant as I’m sipping on this Canarias.

I ordered myself a nice premium mate from the Argentino over 2 weeks ago. Took them a week to even ship it, and now after finally reaching the US it has been stuck in customs for almost another week for whatever reason. Their customer service has not been very helpful in resolving the issue. This stainless steel one from Amazon is definitely going to be a daily driver but I was really hoping to have the calabash one in time for my trip to Miami so I could surprise and really impress my Argentine friends w a nicely cured mate. Bright side is I’ve gotten really good at making the montañita and grateful I can still enjoy some Yerba daily in this isolated little town in Florida

Good evening from Gainesville Florida!

A nice little book, some maria cookies, new stanley thermos, and trying Canarias for the first time. My new imperial mate that was supposed to arrive today is stuck in customs 🙄 Cheers!

Been making mate for one month

My journey began with wanting to save money on energy drinks. I was spending about $30 a week on average. So far I’ve only spent less than $50. I am fortunate to have a Latin market in my city and most of that was spent on this overpriced lil mate. So really only $20 in Yerba for a month is great for me.

I immediately fell in love with the taste (once I finally got the prep right, my first 2 were a bitter mess). I am 30 but the first time I actually tried it I was actually only about 10. I was with my father and his Argentine friends at the beach in Miami. I was curious about what they were passing around and “eating” and they offered me a sip. I immediately spit it out lol.

I started with Cruz de Malta, then tried a bag of Playadito, now I’m on Rosamonte. I am really enjoying the rosamonte the most and would love more recommendations. I am open to try yerbas from other countries but Argentine cuts are most commonly found at my market.

With the money I have saved from not buying energy drinks I decided to invest in an imperial leather wrapped calabash mate with an alpaca rim and bombilla. A massive step up from this tiny plastic one. But it will always have a special place in my heart as my first mate.

Happy to be part of the mate culture
