THE DOGS

The first dog — an old, gentle soul who minded his own business — was found dead on 14 May 2026 outside the Cafe Coffee Day outlet, Rajiv Gandhi Salai, Egattur, Kelambakkam. Severe bleeding from the mouth. Signs consistent with poisoning.

The second dog — a nursing mother who had recently given birth to 4 puppies — was found foaming at the mouth and convulsing at the same spot on 15 May 2026. She was rushed to the vet immediately. A blood test confirmed acute poisoning. She fought hard.

She did not make it. She passed away on 17 May 2026.

🚨 4 ORPHANED PUPPIES NEED HOMES — URGENT 🚨

Their mother died fighting. They are now alone.

There are 4 orphaned puppies — all accounted for and safe. In the video below you can see 3 of them running around — the 4th was nearby. They are in Egattur, Kelambakkam, OMR area.

If you can adopt, foster or temporarily care for any of them — please DM me immediately. Every one of them deserves a home and a chance at life.

Police investigation is actively underway.

Government veterinary post mortem has commenced. Report expected within one to four weeks.

The case is now before the District Munsif cum Judicial Magistrate Court, Thiruporur.

WHO HELPED

I did not fight this alone. I received invaluable support from:

  • PETA India — who responded publicly and are actively involved in this case
  • Blue Cross of India — who guided me through the process
  • This community — whose support, shares and messages kept this going

Thank you. From the bottom of my heart.

WHAT HAPPENS NEXT

The legal process is running. I have been advised to let the investigation proceed independently. I will update this community as the case progresses.

ONE THING I AM STILL LOOKING FOR

Media contacts in Chennai who cover civic and animal welfare stories — journalists who can bring wider attention to this case. Please DM me.

Two dogs are gone. Four puppies are alone. But their mother did not die without consequence.

Every journey starts with a step.

Two dogs poisoned outside Cafe Coffee Day, Chennai:Egattur,Kelambakkam — one dead, one surviving — veterinary report confirms acute poisoning — police complaint filed

Following up on my earlier post in this community — there have been significant developments.

Earlier post: https://www.reddit.com/r/Indiedogs/comments/1tczixf/stray_dog_found_dead_outside_cafe_coffee_day/

I've been feeding stray dogs on the public road outside the Cafe Coffee Day outlet in Egattur, Kelambakkam, Chennai for a while.

A few weeks ago, the outlet's Area Manager aggressively confronted me and demanded I stop. I refused — the road is public property and feeding strays is a legal right upheld by Indian courts. A heated argument followed.

Then this happened:

14 May 2026 — FIRST DOG KILLED I found one of the dogs I regularly feed lying dead outside the outlet. Severe bleeding from the mouth and nasal cavity — signs consistent with poisoning.

🚨 15 May 2026 — SECOND DOG POISONED — A NURSING MOTHER 🚨

The very next day — a nursing mother dog who recently gave birth to puppies — was found foaming at the mouth and convulsing at the same spot.

Her newborn puppies almost lost their mother.

A friend rushed her to Little Angels Pet Clinic, Kelambakkam. Emergency treatment commenced under Dr. Sathya.

This is not a coincidence. Two dogs. Same location. Consecutive days.

Veterinary blood tests confirm acute poisoning:

  • CO2: <5.0 (Normal: 14–27) — severe metabolic acidosis, hallmark of toxic poisoning
  • WBC: 28.3 (Normal: 6–17) — nearly double, severe toxic stress
  • Granulocytes: 22.9 (Normal: 3.5–12) — consistent with acute poisoning

Nursing mother receiving treatment:

UPDATE — 16 May 2026 The mother dog is recovering. Her puppies are safe.

One dog is still dead.

ACTIONS TAKEN:

  • Formal complaint filed with SP Kancheepuram with photos, videos and veterinary report
  • Complaint sent to CCD CEO Malavika Hegde and Senior Management — they have officially acknowledged and CC'd their Area Manager
  • Complaints filed with Maneka Gandhi's People for Animals, Animal Welfare Board of India and Blue Cross of India
  • Matter documented publicly on social media

CCD has acknowledged but not responded substantively.

TO EVERYONE WHO REACHED OUT: I am truly grateful for the support and messages from this community. I was completely exhausted and was unable to respond to most of you — I apologise for that. I will connect with each of you soon. Your support means everything in this fight.

I am looking for: Media contacts in Chennai who cover civic and animal welfare stories.

This cannot go unanswered. A dog is dead. A nursing mother was poisoned. Newborn puppies almost lost their mother. The same location. The same dogs I was feeding. Two consecutive days after an altercation with the Area Manager.

Sharing here because this needs to stay on record publicly.

🙏🙏🙏

Stray dog found dead outside Cafe Coffee Day, Egattur Kelambakkam, Chennai— suspected poisoning after altercation with their Area Manager

I've been feeding stray dogs on the public road outside the CCD outlet in Egattur, Kelambakkam for a while.

Weeks ago, the outlet's Area Manager confronted me aggressively and demanded I stop. I told him the road is public property and he has no jurisdiction over it. It escalated into a verbal argument.

Today I found one of those dogs dead at the same spot. Severe bleeding from the mouth — signs consistent with poisoning.

I have photos (attaching). Body is still there.

I am:

- Filing a complaint at Kelambakkam Police Station today

- Writing to CCD Senior Management

- Complaining to Blue Cross of India and Animal Welfare Board of India

Does anyone know:

  1. A vet or animal welfare contact in Kelambakkam/OMR who can do an emergency post-mortem?
  2. Anyone from IndieStrays or similar networks nearby who can help right now?
  3. Any animal rights lawyers in Chennai I should contact?

Sharing here because this needs to be documented publicly. If CCD's management is reading this — I expect a formal response.
