Profile:

IIT B Dual Degree (10/10/7 profile).

• Secured a Slot 1 offer at Alvarez & Marsal (A&M) during placements.

• Also have an offer from Sarvam AI for a Strategy & GTM Associate role (2x pay + equity).

The Goal:

Post-2 yrs: Join IIM A/B/C or M7 MBA.

Long-term: Transition to MBB (McKinsey/BCG/Bain) or Top-tier VC (Peak XV/Elevation).

The Dilemma:

  1. A&M: The "safe" prestige route. Proven bridge to PE, great for operational rigor, but I'm worried a "7" GPA at IIM might make me just another consultant in a sea of 9/9/9s.

  2. Sarvam AI: High-alpha play at a $1.5B foundational AI unicorn. Massive ownership (Pricing, Unit Economics, GTM). I feel this "Unique Operator" story offsets the GPA 7 blemish better for M7/MBB, but is it too risky to skip formal consulting "grooming"?

Questions:

• Does "GTM at a Tier-1 AI Startup" carry more weight for MBB/VC than Tier-2 consulting?

• Can I use the "Slot 1 Achievement" (Top 5 / 1500 candidates) on my CV later to prove I had the "Consulting Stamp" even if I choose the startup?

Appreciate any no-sugarcoated advice from IIM alums or folks in the VC/PE space
