Updike Distribution Logistics

Owner/operator contracted delivery driver here in Oklahoma City. This company gives a base pay per day that is:
Flat Rate - $614 + $.46/mile > 170 miles.
Now you may have 1-5 white gloves in this route but you get no additional pay for any white glove deliveries. A white glove must be unpackaged, put together and remove all trash from customers home. Kind of odd if you ask me. Wayfair is their biggest customer and they charge customers for white glove delivery services but the delivery team gets no additional pay. Who’s getting that money? Updike? I’d guess so.

The other biggest issue is my drivers get to the warehouse at 5am and don’t get home sometimes until 8 or 9 at night. Updike is trying to shove as many deliveries it can on a route because it’s a base pay without any care in the world about the worker having to work long days, after awhile that takes a toll on anyone. Oh and you load your own truck in the morning and if something is missing the manager Daniel wants the driver to wait until it’s found! He is rarely there in the mornings and reeks of alcohol most days. You also get rated based on customer surveys. Some customers are mad at wayfair because of the product, some customers think they have white glove but they don’t, some customers are mad at Updike for rescheduling their delivery multiple times. Other customers you just can’t make happy no matter what. And the funniest part is all the employees have felonies so they cannot deliver on any base but Updike for some reason takes the delivery jobs? You’d think they would have changed that by now.

Do not get involved with this company if you own box trucks and run your own business. We have moved on and are making way better money hauling no touch freight.

Curious what’s everyone else’s experience with this company as a customer getting a delivery, Updike worker or contractor?

Wayfair Professional Assembly

I signed up to Wayfair Professional Assembler app to check out the app and see what the pay was like for professional assembly as I love that type of work. They do not reimburse for gas, first red flag. First job I got was for a bed assembly. The job pays 41 dollars and is in Stillwater, I’m in okc. Laughable. So out of curiosity i looked up the item on wayfair and professional assembly costs 84.99.
