T-Mobile Essentials vs Metro vs Visible

I currently have Spectrum for home Internet and cellular. AT&T just put fiber into my street and I can't not switch to 500Mb symmetrical for less than I'm paying Spectrum for a plan with 10Mb upload speed (online backups take forever). That means I lose access to Spectrum Mobile though (which has been great at $30 a month) and need to find a replacement.

I was a Sprint PCS customer back when it debuted in the '90s and as part of their Pioneer Plan I got free service for life. T-Mobile has honored that and I have two free lines on the Essentials plan that I haven't been using. So, two of my three lines will go there and I need to find a home for the other.

Can anyone offer a recommendation between Mint and Visible? The prices appear similar and either network works for our purposes. I think I'd be looking at Visible+ versus Mint's $35 tier (which is $30 with autopay). Visible+ has a $5 discount good for one year which makes it the same price as Mint but I'm not sure if there's a way to extend that so Mint might be less expensive after a year.

Last but not least, does anyone have a sense of the network performance on Mint or Visible versus T-Mobile Essentials? I've been testing Essentials with a second SIM in my phone and I haven't noticed a difference versus Spectrum.

Sorry for the long winded post and thanks in advance for any advice or feedback.

Dealing with a hairy residual limb. Clippers okay?

I have hairy legs and now I have a hairy stump. I'm having some skin issues and air bubble under my liner which may be related to all the hair (one Redditor called me Bigfoot). I know shaving is a no-no but what about brining the hair down using clippers? I was thinking of getting it down to 3mm or so and trying to keep it there.

Thanks in advance!

Having a rough time with my skin on my residual limb. Skin care products and suggestions?

I'm eleven weeks on from my amputation and just got my first carbon socket and leg. After wearing a shrinker anytime I don't have my prosthetic on and wearing my liner and prosthetic my skin is starting to give me issues...

https://preview.redd.it/y7m7zszhy01h1.jpg?width=1838&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=89fc7e0af00ffb30df3d75d7c2357ecb3ccc13b3

I think this looks worse in the picture than in real life but not by much. Lately I've been forced to take my shrinker off in the middle of the night because of bad itching. That sensation is mainly behind my knee. Sometimes I have what looks like a rash and I've also had what looks like a pimple or blister. The rest looks like rubbing near the scar and maybe folliculitis as well. I didn't wear my leg or a shrinker at all today because of how my skin looks. That's not a long term solution obviously.

Can anyone suggest skin care products that might help? Right now I'm not doing anything but washing with soap and water (and washing the inside of my liner the same way). I've seen references to Adaptskin, NIVEA Creme, Derma Prevent and others. I'd love to hear what worked for others.

My plan tonight is to put heavy duty moisturizer on (like Desitin only not as skinky) and cover it with a cotton sock. I'll probably put an Ace bandage over that to act as a shrinker so I have some chance of wearing my leg tomorrow.

Thanks in advance!

Office Home and Business 2024 changed appearance unexpectedly.

I had to replace the motherboard on my computer today. After doing that my installation of Office Home and Business 2024 (keycard) popped up a message that I needed to activate or login. I logged in and ran Outlook and noticed it looked completely different than it did before swapping the motherboard. I run Office Home and Business 2024 LTSC at work and my keycard version looked identical. Not anymore.

This is what Outlook looked like before:

This is what Outlook looks like now:

The search box is also totally different.

Has anyone run into anything like this? When I logged out of my Microsoft account the default colors changed on Outlook and Word. I'm not sure I was ever logged in before. Thanks in advance.

Looking to improve my current backup system

I'm looking to improve my current backup scheme and would love some suggestions and feedback.

My current setup consists of two computers in different physical locations. Data on both computers is stored on a RAID-1 array. Data is synchronized between them using Syncthing. Each computer also has an additional installed hard drive and the RAID is backed up to that drive using Macrium Reflect. Finally, one of the computers is backed up to the cloud via Backblaze.

I was using both computers but now one will strictly be for backup. I was looking at turning on receive only and versioning in Syncthing for that computer.

I've been thinking about adding a NAS to have the data backup on yet another device. One concern with my setup is ransomware. The odds are low and Macrium claims their backup files are protected and can't be encrypted but I wouldn't mind a setup that's only online for backups and then is disconnected. Probably excessive but...

Thanks in advance.

I've had chronic pain in my shoulders for years (mostly on the left side). It got really bad in 2020 and I had a disc replacement at C5-C6. I felt great for about a year and then started getting pain again. Not as bad as before though. Had a MRI in 2023 that found mild central and mild bilateral foraminal stenosis at C4-C5 and severe left and moderately severe right foraminal stenosis at C6-C7 along with mild central stenosis.

Fast forward to now and I've got major pain in my left shoulder that radiates down to my elbow. Again. I'm having a MRI next week but it's pretty clear what's going on. I'm probably looking at another surgery which really sucks.

In the meantime, I'm trying to control the pain. Just got a Medrol dose pack which I started today. Hopefully that will provide some relief (it did in 2020). I have a prescription of Celebrex to use afterwards (200mg twice a day). I'm going to start icing my neck as well.

I'm curious if anyone has any other suggestions to get me through this? I have existing prescriptions of Lyrica and Gabapentin that I can try. I was taking Gabapentin for CRPS but I had my foot amputated ten weeks ago so I don't need it anymore. I was going to reduce it and then I started getting phantom limb pain so they switched me to Lyrica. I just got off that and then two weeks later my neck started hurting when I was using a cane to walk with my first test prosthetic. If I didn't have bad luck medically I'd have no luck at all. I also have a soft cervical collar and a Miami cervical brace from my previous neck surgery that I could try.

Thanks in advance for any and all advice.
