Got into 3 clubs in Berlin with a suit and Oxfords

Thought I would share this pretty cool story that happened to me just this week, and maybe someone of you can input your experiences with this.

Me and a few colleagues from the US visited Berlin for a tech conference this week, and in turn, wore a suit and tie for most of our time there.

Me and 2 colleagues (all 22-23M) decided to try and enjoy the city as much as possible, as it was all of our first times visiting Berlin, and we’ve heard great things about it.

On the first night we decided to get drinks at Belushi’s, which was cool but extremely crowded, after which we took an uber to Sisyphus. All of us were still kitted out in suit and tie, with dress shoes on, but even then, we had absolutely no trouble getting in and had a great time.

I assumed we just got lucky, so on our second evening we visited Lokschuppen Berlin, at the end of the U bahn. The outside area was extremely rough, but once again, we got inside with no problems with our conference outfits.

On our third and final night we decided to try Berghain. I assumed, from what I heard, that there was practically no way that we would get in due to the strict door policy, however with a very limited wardbrobe l, we decided to give it a go. Once again, we got in no problem and had a wonderful time.

I thought that after reading a bunch of stories on Reddit, going 3/3 would be absolutely impossible, but I was wrong. Thanks Berlin for a great experience.

PS: If anyone knows the name of the DJ duo that was playing at Lokschuppen at around 2:30 am this Tuesday please feel free to let me know, probably the best music I’ve ever heard.

Live 2/5 hand

Hi,

This hand is from a local live 2/5 game, 6 handed. The villain is a regular, but he’s not very good, and I’ve seen some EXTREMELY questionable plays from him in the recent past. We are approximately 600bb deep (no buy in cap, and this is the highest stakes game in my city). For the sake of simplicity I will continue using BB when describing bets, because it was in a different currency (when translated, the game is basically 2.2/4.4€ blinds)

Villain opens UTG to 4bb, cutoff calls, hero 3bets in the small blind to 26bb with As5s, villain 4bets to 80bb, hero calls. I know I should definitely be folding here against 90% of the pool, especially out of position, but this guy is, in my eyes, just very bad, and my read on him is that he overbluffs postflop, so I decided to call, since we are playing extremely deep, and I can potentially get stacks in.

Flop comes 2s6s7d. Hero cchecks, villain bets 64bb. Hero calls. I decided I wasn’t really going to do any raising in this spot, since I don’t think we actually accomplish anything by doing so in a 4bet pot, even against a villain like him, because he is decently likely to call his 2overpair holding anyway (unless we shove, which isn’t really an option this deep)

Turn comes 8h. Goes check check.

River comes 9d. Hero shoves for approx 128% of the pot. I believe that, when playing against such unpredictable players, he is honestly decently likely to never fold an overpair here, if he checks it on the turn, ATLEAST some of the time, and this guy knows I am capable of bluffing, as I have done so in various spots we have played l. I also assumed that he doesn’t have that many 10s, since it is unlikely this guy will find a 4bet with something like 109 suited, and if he does, then there’s no getting away from it against this guy anyway, so all things considered I decided to shove and hope he puts me on spades or some airball and calls me.

Let me know what you think.

I (M22) have never been the type for serious relationships, or atleast historically I haven’t really been in many besides one serious, approx 1 year long relationship with my ex girlfriend.

Fast forward to now, I have gone on quite a few (mostly tinder) dates in the past 4-5 months, since I currently have some time on my hands, and I am tired of the hook up culture which I have entertained for so long. I feel the dates themselves usually go very well, and many times there is even a 2nd/3rd date, but for one reason or another, I have ended up getting ghosted every single time, which is actually pretty funny now that I’m typing it out.

Take the last person I was seeing as an example. We met on tinder, we texted for a good week, it was great, we had similar humour and we were getting along great, lots of flirting and etc. We saw each other 2 days ago for a spontaneous dinner date. I thought it went great for the most part. But, once again, she very politely declined the date we had set up for yesterday with a well thought out reason, and hasn’t replied to my message since then. I believe I am not an awkward guy by any means, I enjoy talking, I smile, I look exactly like my pictures, and I truly enjoy the dates that I go on, and I truly believe the women do aswell. I must be missing something obviously.

It doesn’t help that over the past few months of active dating, I have developed what seems to be an overly attached relationship style, which I never had previously, if anything it was the opposite my entire life. I assume that this is from the absolute bombardment of “rejections” I have gotten from women whom I, at the time, thought was massive potential with, but who knows. This makes it so much more painful for me once things eventually don’t work out. I know it’s a numbers game, and eventually I will find the one (or atleast that’s what I’ve heard lol), and I just guess im wondering if anybody has dealt with something similiar before, and if there is anything I can do to stop overthinking and fantasising about what can/could have been, and take things one day at a time.

100NL on iPoker, 6max, 100bb eff.

Villain opens SB to 2.5bb, hero 3bet to 8b from the BB with KdKs. Villain calls. Judging by his sizing pre, it’s a little more likely villain is a recreational, but it’s possible he just prefers smaller sizings, so I did not consider it too much.

Flip AdJd4s. Villain checks, hero bets 1/3 pot, villain calls. I think checking is the better option on this board, definitely, but I don’t mind betting small here holding both suits, allowing me to potentially bluff later, as well as picking up some value from Jx.

Turn comes 8s. Check/check.

River comes 10s. Villain checks, hero shoves for approx 3.6x pot. I thought villain is unlikely to check his flushes here, since the board is so wet, and my check on the turn makes it a little less likely I have a hand like AK/AJ/A4/A8. I also think I could play it this way with spade combos some of the time, or perhaps KQ suited, and I don’t necessarily have to barrel all 3 streets. I think if we have any bluffs in this spot, this is the perfect hand to do it with, and i think that while my line isn’t perfect, it is believable enough to get villain to fold out various of his even quite strong holdings. Once again, I don’t believe villain is ever really that strong here after he checks the river,‘ I don’t think this spot is slow played enough at these stakes.

One more thing to note: I thought about checking back on river, but when villain checks here, I actually think it’s less likely that we’re good with pocket Kings often (we are sometimes for sure, but not often) since on such a board, following the action, I think he would be very likely to bluff some naked diamond draws that missed, and thus he is slightly more weighted to hands that have decent showdown.

Let me know what you think.
