Avant- Garde inspired lighter case - tips on improvement appreciated

First time really using leather. Don’t really have access to the nicest leather so this was just with leather scraps from my local craft store. Lighter case along with some other “projects”. Would love pointers on how to get even tension on saddle stitches or anything else you deem useful
