Is it just me? I thought it would be just one season - then another - then still - when will these atrocities be sent to die? I don’t want to look like some weird milkmaid! When will it stop? Are simple set sleeves so hard? Why is the only choice puffed monstrosities or sleeveless?

Adding to that, can we please be rid of ruffles, frills and flounces on dresses, and high choking necklines? It’s summer, we need breathable fabric without multiple layers and nice free v necks or generous boat necks. Anything else is too hot. Why is it so hard to buy a cute and practical short sleeve summer dress these days?

This might sound a bit daft, but I just had an appointment with a new hairdresser who was fantastic, she was so kind and friendly, she advised me to try a treatment that transformed my horrible frizzy candy floss hair back in time to the smooth and shiny hair I had before age, stress and Covid hit me. I honestly can’t believe the difference in how I look and of course how much better I feel about myself. I can actually wear my hair down after sticking it in a pony tail for so long!

If you are a hairdresser in Hong Kong, what would be a gift you would appreciate? I’d like to give her something when I go back to show her how great she has been and how much it meant to me, but chocolates or wine seems lame considering they’re right there on tap in reception anyway, and I’m not sure what is customary?
