Alternatives to food banks in Sheffield?

Hey everyone,

Im on my second month of being on UC and i have no idea how people survive on it. Last month I had to get a budgeting advance just to cover all the bills and still had to get food bank vouchers to be able to eat.

Ive tried this month to cut down on everything possible to reduce bills but they still took everything from my UC.

Ive tried asking for more food bank vouchers but ive been told its only 3 allowed every 6 months?! That seems crazy to me. I feel awful for everyone else who's ever had to go through this.

Does anyone have any alternatives to food banks where I can go? Ive had a look at food works but I think they need a small amount for it from what ivr read and I have no cash at all for.

Any suggestions are helpful

How on earth do i survive on UC?! - England

Hey all,

Im so confused on how im supposed to survive on UC.

I got paid my second month of UC today and its literally all gone after bills. I had the same issue last month and had to get a budgeting Advance just to cover the bills, then get food bank vouchers to survive the month.

This month I tried my hardest to cut back on everything and cancel things so that bills aren't gonna be as bad, but theyve still eaten up everything.

What the hell am I supposed to do? I cant get another budgeting advance and I cant get more food bank vouchers (because apparently its 3 only every 6 months).

Any advice will be really appreciated because im panicking like crazy. Im autistic (but not enough for PIP apparently 😤) and this is causing me far too much stress

Thank you
