David Pedersen - Bishop Trailhead Shuttle

Putting in a plug for David Pedersen for trailhead shuttle services around Bishop. I completed a section of the SHR and did not make prior arrangements to retrieve my car at North Lake, but he got back to me very quickly and was exceedingly professional.

Can be reached at pedwood@comcast.net, or message me for cell (can be found online elsewhere).

True Olive Green Fatigue

Interested in my first fatigue shirt, and quickly came across OrSlow as a front runner. However, I’m interested in a true olive (halfway between green and khaki) rather than green. Similar in color to Taylor Stitch’s Surplus Shirt. As cool as OrSlow’s looks, it appears to be much more green.

Is this a correct read? Another other recs?

Critique my 4-Day SHR Segment Itinerary

Planning to do the following in two weeks:

Day 1: North Lake, hike along Piute Pass Trail, cross Piute Pass into Humphrey's Basin. Camp in upper Humphrey's Basin.

Day 2: Cross Puppet Pass, traverse French Canyon, cross Feather Pass into Bear Lakes Basin. Camp in Bear Lakes Basin.

Day 3: Hike through Bear Lake's Basin, cross White Bear Pass, head to Lake Italy. Camp at Lake Italy.

Day 4: Hike along Lake Italy, cross Italy Pass to Granite Park, pick up Pine Creek Trail and descend. Hitchhike back to North Lake.

How worried should I be about the rock fires? Are they likely to be contained before I depart?

Sierra High Route Segment/Alternatives

Looking to spend 3-4 days without cell service this August around King's Canyon/Sequoia region. My first thought was to tackle Bear Lakes Basin to Lake Italy on the SHR. I'm looking for alpine terrain and a little bit of scrambling without crazy exposure or climbing moves required.

I solo'd the Ball Pass Crossing at Aoraki in New Zealand last year (which was aggressive given my alpine experience at the time) and am looking for similar vibes to this. Fitness is not a concern, navigation skills are fine (and I have an inReach). Do you think this segment of SHR is too much of undertaking? Any alternative multi-day hikes you would recommend instead?

I'm also open to finding a partner for it. Any Facebook groups you recommend?
