Questions about progress/return to work

Firstly, I know everyone has a different journey, but feel somewhat stuck. I'm almost 12 weeks post op trimal, cleared for FWB on 8/12 and returned to working 8/17. I work at a horse rescue so lots of walking bending etc on a lot of uneven ground. After about 4 hours I'm just done, not really pain but tightness and burning. Does it get better? I figured by the 3 month mark I'd be pretty much back to normal

Fear of overdoing/ reinjury

Broke my ankle 5/31 while hiking, had surgery 6/5 trimal with a plate and 2 screws. Cleared for FWB with the boot on 7/9, started with one crutch and for the last few days walking without it. I did probably 2000 steps yesterday and leg is very sore today, more along the back of the leg and inner ankle, swelling not horrible mostly around the ankle. I'm really trying to push myself to get better, but I'm afraid to push too much if it's going to make it worse. Can't do PT as my insurance is crap, so finding a lot of exercises online. Do you think it's better to take a rest day in between? Really frustrating!
