How to choose Plan N policy provider in NC?

I am turning 65 soon, have my A/B card and a Plan D policy. I have decided to add on a Plan N supplement. However, I do not understand how to select a Plan N policy provider in NC. Could anyone provide assistance?

NC is not a birthday state, so I feel like I get one time to do this without having to go through underwriting. The only "community pricing" choice is AARP-UHC. My local SHIP program, which was very helpful to get me this far, suggests going with it. However, as I've learned here, "community pricing" is misleading here, because the discounts fade away with time. At least I can see the Enrollment Discount for given age at this point in time.

There are over 2 dozen Plan N options available! Some of the companies I've heard of, most I have not. I made a call to one attained-age company, trying to figure out how their premiums change with age, but the agent was not only unhelpful but derisive.

Given all the unknowns with health insurance companies these days, I know pricing is unpredictable. I just want to find a company that will do a decent job at a decent price point.

The best I could do to estimate cost over the next 20 years (ha ha I know) was to price Plan N policies on medicare.gov for the ages of 65-85, in 5 year increments. (Is this even a remotely legitimate way to analyze my potential costs?) In the end, the summed prices ranged two-fold! In increasing order of "total" costs, the providers are as follows (parentheticals are part of the plan name):

Atlantic Capital Life Assurance Company (Preferred)
MedMutual Protect
First Health Life & Health Insurance Company
Humana Achieve (CompBenefits Insurance Company)
LifeShield National Insurance Company
Medico Insurance Company (Preferred)
Bankers Life (Underwritten by Washington National Insurance Company)
Nassau Life Insurance Company
Atlantic Capital Life Assurance Company (Standard)
AFLAC [note this $price was the median]
American Benefit Life Insurance Company
Medico Insurance Company (Standard I)
HealthSpring Insurance Company
WoodmenLife
New Era Life Insurance Company of the Midwest
Medico Insurance Company (Standard II)
Bankers Life (Underwritten by Washington National Insurance Company) (Substandard)
Humana (Humana Benefit Plan of Illinois, Inc.)
Mutual of Omaha [insulting broker]
Aetna Health Insurance Company
GPM Health and Life Insurance Company
Erie Family Life Insurance Company
AARP - UnitedHealthcare Insurance Company of America
State Farm Mutual Automobile Insurance Company

I have no idea what to do now. Is there a reason to pick one of the under-median companies rather than another? Should I stick with the AARP/UHC because at least it is a known quantity?

HELP! Thank you!

Like others, I am being forced to use id.me (a private company making a ton of money off us taxpayers) to start enrolling in Medicare. I started my verification earlier this month for tax purposes. It didn't automatically approve my photo and IDs. After long wait, I got an email saying I could schedule my call. When I followed that link, it asked me to upload a 3rd document. Now I am back at the beginning of the queue, waiting again for my documents to be reviewed by some mysterious ai system. I received the message that, "Review times are longer due to high volumes." Is that ever NOT the case--I understood it sort of during tax season but now? If I ever receive a 2nd email saying I can schedule a call so that I can wave my driver's license around, I will apparently have to take a day off work to have the pleasure of doing so because the wait times for an agent on the video call are ridiculous.
What fresh he77 is this? Are there alternatives?
