Hiking Dresses

I'm just wondering how how many other women on here are wearing a hiking dress or a suitable regular dress when out on the trail. Any particular brand and what are your experiences?

At one time I wouldnt have considered a dress or a skirt as a viable option. But that was years ago and in the last few years I've pretty much moved over to always wearing a skirt/dress in regular life anyway. Not sure exactly why/when, it just sort of happened and I guess its just more me and I'm more comfortable that way. So it's always felt a bit odd and a downer on a warm summer day to have to switch from a comfortable skirt to shorts to just go hiking. And TBH I've never felt that I look good in shorts and they always seem to pull and bind a bit.

Last year I ditched the shorts and just wore skirts. The key for me was not to go too long. This was a big success and I wish that I'd done this before. This year being a nice summer here in the UK I been wearing dresses when hiking. Again the length seems to be key. No longer than knee length and better just on the upper side of the knee. That seems to be very practical for me. Nowdays there are a lot available for day to day wear which are in that category. I have not been wearing any which have been specifically marketed as "Hiking dress" or skirt. Just suitable every day ones.

I just competed a five day hike and wild camp along the Ridgeway long distance path here in southern England. The two I wore were.

I did take some leggings just in case but never needed them. They were just dead weight

I'm really happy that this has been such a success in practical terms and I can finally ditch the shorts which tbh I've never like that much. I interested to know what others are wearing both in dresses/skirts specifically marketed for "hiking gr "travel" or just regular wear? And your experience?

Finally there will come a time (fortunately a long way off yet) when the days will get cooler and summer dresses wont be appropriate any more. How to handle that? Suitable skirts? leggings or tights come to mind. Any thoughts?

With the above in mind I'm thinking perhaps this. I've always liked Fjällräven products. Maybe a bit longer than I would like but I could always hem up a bit. (also its on sale at a local store right now)

Anyhow what are you wearing and experiences please.

Looking for some old Crystals

Hi,

I'm looking for some old crystals for an oscillator/mixing project I say old because I know/suspect they are probably out there somewhere! The exact frquencies are not critical. Size: small i.e HC49/U or any of the other HC.'s that are roughly the same size

What I need:

  1. Somewhere around the 6.780mhz zone

  2. Somewhere around 11.960mhz or so

  3. Somewhere around 15.040-15.060mhz . I alrady have one on 15.041 but its actually a 3rd overtone on 45.125 so 3rd overtones would work too.

Anyone got anything like this lurking in an old junk box or know of where I can obtain? I need several, ideally 3 or 4 of each, they do not even need to be the same frequency just close. As I say exact freq not critical. I'm a solderer and HB'er at heart!

I'm happy to pay a reasonable fee for these and slowboat shipping charges (I'm in the UK)

73!

Something positive for a change!

Yes with all this negative hate around theses days I had two positive experiences.

First I had a mammogram invite from the NHS. I was minded to not go thinking about the current climate etc. I was persuaded by my friend that I needed to have it done. As I went in my legs felt like jelly! In reality they were lovely and my trans status did come up as your are asked if you are on any hormones as it can affect the scan apparently. Anyway no problems.

Secondly my bra fitting. Well with this hot weather recently I've not been wearing a bra much at least when I'm at home. I was at a BBQ and a dear friend (CIS female) who has been a great help in my transition pulled me aside and said "mind if I ask you a personal question?" sure I replied. She said "you are not wearing a bra are you?" "erm no its a bit hot" I replied. Her response was "welcome to being a woman you cant have it allways you know !" I asked her if it was really that obvious? "Yes" she said "particularly with that lightweight top you're wearing".

The outcome of all this was that she recommended that I got a professional bra fitting so I could be as comfortable as possible. Particularly as I absolutely cant risk going bra-less to work. I had the fitting a couple of days back and despite being very apprehensive they were absolutely fine. They recommended some different types. A bit surprised as what works best for me now is the underwired ones, So I have some new ones.

I'm at the stage now post op where my breasts have grown more and I absolutely need a bra and particularly when at work. I'm not that silly as without a bra in the office would be pretty obvious I think! While I have a good fit now and support with the underwire ones I just wish with it being summer I could find ones which are cooler and dont make me sweat. My goal are ones I can put on first thing in the morning and not be wanting to rip it off when I get home early evening. Ideally keep it on until bedtime.

Any suggestions for cooler ones?
