Do deep conversations matter in the world of small talk?
I have always felt that opening up comes with it's own set of limitations. You open up, lighten your heart, talk about questions you've always wondered about, and make space emotionally, only to be judged by the other person and taken for as easy and hyper-independent.
I don't know. I may be wrong. But my frankness and willingness to listen to people and help them share the weight of their thoughts never helped me as a person. Whenever I tried to talk, I was met with coldness and hesitant eyes.
Do we still think conversations matter?
