JFK: Conspirators - Episode 26: The Conspirators Part 6 – Lee Harvey Oswald - YouTube

JFK: Conspirators - Episode 26: The Conspirators Part 6 – Lee Harvey Oswald - YouTube

Light-colored top, probably with long sleeves, light-colored or brown hair. Carolyn Walther saw the same man as Rowland, Towner, Brennan, Edwards, and Fischer. That man, the one in the sniper’s nest moments before the shooting, was not Lee Harvey Oswald. It’s true that none of these witnesses described Oswald, but how do I know for sure? It’s because Lee Harvey Oswald was the other man Carolyn Walther saw in the window.

In her FBI statement, Walther said she could only see the right side of this man, from his shoulders to his hips, and specifically described him as wearing a brown suit jacket. She did not mention a tie.

Oswald’s former landlady, Mary Bledsoe, saw him on the Marsalis bus, shortly after he walked out the front entrance of the Texas School Book Depository, just a few minutes after the assassination. She described the brown dress shirt he was wearing for Warren Commission senior counsel Joseph Ball. She noticed it had a hole in the right sleeve, near the elbow.

Most of the buttons were missing, too. Just one held the shirt together, about halfway between his shoulders and hips. As a result, the shirt did not close up at the top and bottom as a dress shirt normally would. Especially from the distance Carolyn Walther stood from that window, it is not hard to see why she mistook Oswald’s shirt, for a suit jacket.

JFK: Conspirators - Episode 25: The Conspirators Part 5 – Light-Headed Man Lying in Wait - YouTube

Ronald Fischer and Robert Edwards would have been able to hear the roar of the crowd as President Kennedy got closer to Dealey Plaza. They were standing on the street, next to the curb at the southwest corner of Houston and Elm, just before the motorcade turned from Main Street. At this time, Edwards got Fischer’s attention and pointed out a suspicious looking man in the sixth-floor sniper’s nest. It appeared to them he was positioned awkwardly and possibly hiding.

From their vantage point, the co-workers Fischer and Edwards could only see a portion of the sniper’s upper-body and head. They gave the same general description of a light brown-headed man wearing an open neck, light-colored shirt.

Warren Commission Assistant Counsel David Belin was clearly bothered by Fischer’s description of the man’s hair color.

JFK: Conspirators - Episode 24: The Conspirators Part 4 – Star Witness - YouTube

The Warren Commission’s star witness, steamfitter Howard Brennan had a prime seat next to the north reflecting pool at the corner of Houston and Elm, not so much to watch the motorcade, but to see what was going on across the street. He saw the same man as James Towner in the sixth-floor sniper’s nest prior to the motorcade’s arrival.

Like Arnold Rowland and Towner, Brennan described a man wearing a light-colored top. He apparently got such a good look that in a statement taken that afternoon, Brennan said he believed he could identify the man.

As it turned out, he got his chance. During the evening of the assassination, authorities brought him in to view a lineup that included Lee Harvey Oswald. That night, Brennan failed to identify Oswald as the man in the window.

Episode 23: The Conspirators Part 3 – The Man in a White Coat - YouTube

We all know Tina Towner Pender by now. We can see the Presidential limousine’s damaged vent window in the film she captured from the southwest corner of Houston and Elm. She had her parents, James and Pat, on either side of her as she was filming.

The Towners were never asked to give a statement or testify concerning the assassination, despite their prime vantage point. More than 30 years later, in a 1996 Oral History interview with Pat and Tina by his side, James Towner described a man who wore a white coat in the sixth-floor sniper’s nest window. He thought the man had to be Oswald.

JFK: Conspirators - Episode 22: The Conspirators Part 2 – Seeing Two Men on the Sixth Floor - YouTube

Two more witnesses, Roger Craig and Arnold Rowland, who heard 3 shots and thought there was more time between the first and second, implying that the assassination started when Tina Towner was filming. Rowland saw two men on the sixth floor walking back and forth 15 minutes prior to the assassination, one with a rifle at the western end of the Depository. Were there two shooters? Stay tuned.

JFK: Conspirators - Episode 21: The Conspirators Part 1 – Overlooked Witnesses - YouTube

Who was on the sixth floor?

Most witnesses reported hearing three shots. Witnesses saw a shooter in the sixth-floor, southeast corner window of the Texas School Book Depository. Authorities found three shell casings under that window minutes after the shooting. Shortly thereafter they found the matching rifle, which they then linked to Lee Harvey Oswald.

In episode 20, we finished a series of witness sketches that provided clues and ultimately corroboration that the assassination of President Kennedy started just after the limousine turned the corner onto Elm Street. With the discovery of the vent window strike, we know a single shooter would have had 13 seconds, plenty of time, to pull off the assassination.

To steal the title from Gerald Posner’s 1993 book, Case Closed, right? Well, that’s what I thought.

This video is about 2.5 minutes long.

JFK: Conspirators - Episode 20: Beverly Oliver and the Woman on Main Street - YouTube

Shortly after the Presidential limousine turned onto Elm Street, Beverly Oliver, the Babushka Lady, heard two popping sounds, close together. Bang-bang. Like many other witnesses she didn’t realize they were gunshots until the shooting was over. Oliver thought she heard five shots.

Incredibly, a woman in the audience who was along Main Street when the motorcade went by heard the shooting the same way as Beverly Oliver. During the question-and-answer period, she described hearing 4 or 5 loud noises with the first two, “bam-bam, really fast.”

That’s two more witnesses who heard two loud noises, very close together at the start of the shooting. If these noises were really shots, then there had to be more than one shooter.

This video is about 4 minutes long.

This video is an excerpt of Episode 19 of my JFK: Conspirators series. Many Dealey Plaza witnesses described hearing what they thought were firecracker-like sounds. It wasn’t until the shooting was over that witnesses realized those noises were gunshots. Toni Foster, like Marilyn Sitzman, heard what she thought were two firecrackers, very close together, and linked them to the start of the shooting. Toni Foster heard four shots.

In the next episode, we'll explore yet another witness who heard those two firecracker sounds, very close together, when the shooting started. The next witness, like Marilyn Sitzman, heard them just after the limo turned the corner.

This video is an excerpt of Episode 18 of my JFK: Conspirators series. Marilyn Sitzman, Abraham Zapruder's assistant, is another witness who left us with an impression that the shooting started just after the Presidential limousine turned the corner from Houston onto Elm... only Sitzman heard two shots, not one.

Her account is yet another clue that Tina Towner was filming when the shooting started.

This video is an excerpt of Episode 17 of my JFK: Conspirators series. Emmett Hudson is yet another witness who left us with an unmistakable impression that the shooting started just after the Presidential limousine turned the corner. His account is yet another clue that Tina Towner filmed the first shot.

This video is an excerpt of Episode 16 of my JFK: Conspirators series. Over the years, Pierce Allman left us with an unmistakable impression that the shooting started just after the Presidential limousine turned the corner. His account is yet an additional clue that Tina Towner filmed the first shot.

For Episode 15 of JFK: Conspirators, Amos Euins was always sure when the first shot was fired in Dealey Plaza. It was when the President’s limousine reached the “black and white” sign. This video is part of a series detailing witness testimony that corroborates evidence of the first shot in the Tina Towner film. Euins' compelling account was the first Max Holland discovered in his search for the first shot off the Zapruder film.

This video is mostly encapsulating Max Holland's talk at the Sixth Floor Museum. As always, I encourage you to visit the linked sources that appear in the Description for each episode.

The evidence overwhelmingly supports Max Holland's nearly 20-year-old thesis that the first shot was fired before Abraham Zapruder captured the Presidential Limousine on Elm Street. Holland's curiosity, along with some basic math and common sense, formed an elegant, but powerful insight into the timing and spacing of the shots. Mary Pillsworth's account is like many that entirely rule out the dogma that Zapruder filmed the entire shooting.

In Episodes 12-14 of JFK: Conspirators, I begin to lay out my confirmation of Holland's insight. Here is the link to the entire playlist. https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLx_nMuacWEhmVprsXmvMRrzm13Nbix0M5
