Light-colored top, probably with long sleeves, light-colored or brown hair. Carolyn Walther saw the same man as Rowland, Towner, Brennan, Edwards, and Fischer. That man, the one in the sniper’s nest moments before the shooting, was not Lee Harvey Oswald. It’s true that none of these witnesses described Oswald, but how do I know for sure? It’s because Lee Harvey Oswald was the other man Carolyn Walther saw in the window.
In her FBI statement, Walther said she could only see the right side of this man, from his shoulders to his hips, and specifically described him as wearing a brown suit jacket. She did not mention a tie.
Oswald’s former landlady, Mary Bledsoe, saw him on the Marsalis bus, shortly after he walked out the front entrance of the Texas School Book Depository, just a few minutes after the assassination. She described the brown dress shirt he was wearing for Warren Commission senior counsel Joseph Ball. She noticed it had a hole in the right sleeve, near the elbow.
Most of the buttons were missing, too. Just one held the shirt together, about halfway between his shoulders and hips. As a result, the shirt did not close up at the top and bottom as a dress shirt normally would. Especially from the distance Carolyn Walther stood from that window, it is not hard to see why she mistook Oswald’s shirt, for a suit jacket.
