Alternate S50 Tribes Discussion

What do you think the tribe dynamics would've been if these were the original configurations?

  • Cila: Angelina, Emily, Kyle, Rick, Rizo, Ozzy, Stephenie, Tiffany
  • Kalo: Charlie, Chrissy, Christian, Cirie, Coach, Dee, Jonathan, Kamilla
  • Vatu: Aubry, Colby, Genevieve, Jenna, Joe, Mike, Q, Savannah

Who do you think would've been allied? Who do you think would've had the most influence? Who do you think would've been likely to have been early boots?

Survivor 50 - Refined Format

If Survivor 50 were 39 days instead of the now-standard 26 days, I have a refined format in mind that could potentially help alleviate some of its issues:

  • Episode 1: Days 1-3; Single Elimination; 23 players left
  • Episode 2: Days 4-5; Double Elimination (Winning Tribe Safe); 21 players left
  • Episode 3: Days 6-8; Single Elimination; 20 players left
  • Episode 4: Days 9-10; Double Elimination (Winning Tribe Safe); 18 players left
  • Episode 5: Days 11-13; Swap From 3 Tribes to 2 Tribes of 9; Single Elimination; 17 players left
  • Episode 6: Days 14-15; Double Elimination (Both Tribes go to Tribal Council); 15 players left
  • Episode 7: Days 16-18; Single Elimination; 14 players left
  • Episode 8: Days 19-21; Merge; Single Elimination; 13 players left
  • Episode 9: Days 22-24; Double Elimination (2 players immune, 2 players voted out at tribal council); 11 players left
  • Episode 10: Days 25-26; Double Elimination; 2 back-to-back tribal councils; 9 players left
  • Episode 11: Days 27-29; Auction; Single Elimination; 8 players left
  • Episode 12: Days 30-33 (2-hour episode); 2 players eliminated; 6 players left
  • Episode 13: Days 34-36; Single Elimination; 5 players left
  • Episode 14 (Finale): Days 37-39; 2 players voted out; Final 3

I believe the greater number of days would allow for more time - and by proxy, more opportunity - for alliances to reshape after each tribal council. Additionally, the way the Double eliminations work post-merge minimizes the amount of randomness compared to the original format.

Also, given that both post-swap Tribes are forced to attend tribal council in Episode 6, it would ensure each player that makes it to the merge would be forced to attend tribal council at lest once pre-merge. Ideally, each player that makes the merge would attend tribal council 4 times pre-merge in this format (twice both pre-swap and post-swap).

What do you guys think of these alterations? Are there any additional changes you had in mind?

BB28 Ratings and Potential Crossovers

Does anyone know if the ratings for this season have improved this season as a result of Dee and Rick competing on this season? If the ratings for this season increase enough, could you see any future crossovers between Survivors competing on Big Brother or vice versa?

Survivor 50 - The Netflix Effect

During 50, I noticed there were a couple of instances where there was an unnecessary amount of exposition or explanation. For instance, at Final 4, the guys all explained their history with making fires and/or helping others make fires. I was fine with this since it helped provide context to what they were thinking. Then, 5 minutes later at tribal council, Jeff ended up reiterating the exact same things!

I've heard that Netflix develops their media in a way where viewers who are only paying half-attention (i.e. repeating the same information over and over again). I'm curious if Survivor production has adopted any of those practices. If so, I would be disappointed; I feel Survivor deserves to give their viewers more credit.

What do you guys think?

Alison Irwin Inquiry

How would you evaluate Alison Irwin as a player? I've heard some people compare her to Russell Hantz; her gameplay is effective in helping her get to the end, but not in getting the jury to vote for her to win.
