Leather string loops

Hi there, here is something I’ve not seen before but thought a lot about. I’ve been thinking how a lot of the really ancient bows don’t have any string grooves, or obvious marks from a sinew wrap.

The obvious thing is the leather stretching, I would think this can be mitigated by using strong leather and pre stretching.

What about other effects on shooting? Do you think the leather would dampen vibration?

What are your thoughts on the matter?

Wooden arrows for 3d-breakage?

Hi there, I shoot almost exclusively 3d and I normally use carbon arrows.

I do miss fairly frequently and the arrows land in the soil, I like to do awkward difficult shots.

My carbon arrows slowly wear out and sometime break, but normally they only break when I hit it with another arrow.

If I use wooden arrows do they break easy? Will they survive going into the soil? An occasional hit on some wood? Am I better off sticking with carbon for 3d?

What are your thoughts/experiences?
