Best deals, best value + spots that save your life?

Incoming 1L here looking for the restaurants, school supply places, and gems of all kinds of Charlottesville!

Bonus points for the spots close to the law school!

I’m immediately most interested in where to get a quick, cheap lunch close to class or where to find a good value solid meal. Also I’d kill for some street taco recommendations! But honestly, anything you love and recommend in CVille would be awesome.

Go hoos!

Got a suspicious rash, moving today. Does this plan work?

I’ve been backpacking for a month. I check all my hostel beds for bugs and saw nothing, but three days after arriving home I have like 30 bites that look like they could be bed bugs, contact dermatitis, chiggers, or something of the variety. Not consistent with exposed skin while sleeping, but very consistent with exposed skin on flights and buses (bites in line on back of legs and back only.)

I’m also moving to the neighboring state today.

I ran my backpack (only thing I had during 90% of the trip) through the dryer, and my backpacking clothes have been put through too. Wiped down all the backpack seams with a white cloth and see no bug evidence. Mattress also has zero bug evidence.

There’s one outfit that has not been put through the dryer yet that is packed with my other stuff.

I’m moving everything in a UHaul for 3 hours in 95 degree weather — I know this is not an airtight hot box but it was happening anyway and is better than nothing I assume.

I’ve purchased crossfire and will spray the entirety of my new house tomorrow when it arrives. I know it would be preferable to spray the whole apartment and UHaul first, but timelines won’t allow it. I will spray again in a month. I have no signs of bugs on mattress, but I bought a protective cover and the bed bug traps at the foot of the bed.

I’m going to leave my clothes outside for a few more hours and run them through the dryer before bringing them in.

Am I missing any easy improvements? Is this too aggressive given the lack of bugs?

Doc said to retest 3 months after treatment ends?

Just had a follow up for pain after my initial treatment ended, and doc prescribed a PPI for 90 days and said to retest at the end of it once my stomach has had the opportunity to heal.

I’ve seen a lot of “retest 4-6 weeks after treatment ends” so I just wanted to see if this advice is reasonable or something anyone else has been told?

We still don’t know how Rokuhira died “to protect Enten”

Rereading peak, and I realized that in the first chapter Shiba says that Kunishige “gave his life to make Enten” and then later calls Enten “the blade Kunishige spent seven years forging and died protecting.”

(This could be a case of just symbolic language or shifting plot decisions) but I realized we haven’t seen Kunishige “die protecting Enten” and there’s a hanging question of how the six other blades were stolen but Enten was left behind.

We’ve seen so many flashes of Kunishige’s body or him laying on the ground looking up at the Hishaku, but we still really don’t know the sequence of events that day. We still don’t know if and how he died “protecting Enten” because we never see Enten.

So I wonder if we’ll get a full flashback to how Enten was protected (maybe at the end of this arc?) or the image of Chihiro grabbing Enten from some hidden place in the ashes of his house and forging the contract with it.

Meals while on antibiotics? Hitting nutritional goals?

I am one week into antibiotics, and despite my best efforts, I’ve lost found pounds this week.

I’ve been spam eating yoghurt and drinking green tea, and eating smaller snacks instead of big meals — but I feel weak as hell, and I’m starting to try to eat ice cream, protein smoothies, and anything with denser calorie counts to just hit basic dietary needs.

So like, what worked for you all?

Pretty sure the Kamunabi blood test reveal is that Chihiro is a Soga

I get it, we’re tired of “Chihiro is not Kunishige’s kid” theories. But I’ll give it to those theory crafters — we do have a blood test with results hanging right now and that probably means something.

Rereading, the Kamunabi didn’t even know Chihiro Rokuhira or the 7th blade existed. So the Kamunabi probably have no idea who Chihiro’s mom is.

Now the story is hyping up the Sogas as an essential bloodline with the most powerful non-EB or flame bone sorcery.

This makes me think it’ll be relevant to the Kamunabi remnants that Chihiro is a Soga (aka, Chiaki Soga’s son) — not because of her future sight, but because of the male Soga sorcery.

I wonder if Chihiro might reforge the blades so they can be used in tandem with innate sorcery and fight Akemura with both?

Reminder: This Elite Squad Won the War

Rereading Kagurabachi and it’s hysterical that THIS is the intro we get to Azami, Shiba and Kunishige’s life at 18 given the arc we’re in now.

This canonically means these goobers were making katana bulge jokes at the same time they’re serving on the front lines and Azami became a colonel. And when Shiba admires Chihiro’s maturity in ch 12, he’s not like “oh and I was a top 4 sorcerer in Japan selected for Irishima and was starting the whole EB plan at 18,” he’s like “I was soooo silly at 18 hee hee!”

It’s also probably a bit of writing growth and tone change for the series, but I really enjoy the cannon implication that these guys are both the GOATs and total goobers at the same time.

Affordable Off-Grounds housing Near Law School? Finding Roommates?

I'm starting at UVA Law this fall and was hoping to live on campus, but was waitlisted. As a result, I'm looking for off-grounds housing in walking distance from the law school. Honestly, I'm pretty happy with a very basic apartment set up (I'd rather get a cheap place than a nice one) and am trying to avoid buying a car first semester.

Would love any recommendations or resources for units that fit the bill, or to hear how current law students found their housing + roommates!

Thanks a gazillion!
