So my husband (sole provider) was laid off recently. We also have a 1 year old that I care for. We applied for food stamps and were approved for $275 a month.

Now, my friend and her husband receive around $700 every month both working minimum wage.

I was under the impression that the less you make the higher it would be plus we are a bigger family?

(We are grateful. I'm just trying to understand the system)
