Accepted a civil service board offer, but got a much better MNC opportunity — should I renege?

Hi everyone,

I recently accepted and signed an offer letter with a civil service stat board, but I haven’t signed the formal employment contract letter yet.

Yesterday, I received a call from an MNC offering me a role that I’m much more interested in. The position seems to offer significantly better learning opportunities, career growth and exposure which I feel it would be a much better fit for me compared to the more hierarchical environment in the civil service.
Because of this, I’m seriously considering backing out of the civil service offer and accepting the MNC role instead.

Has anyone been in a similar situation before? Are there any major consequences or things I should be aware of if I renege at this stage, especially since I’ve signed the offer letter but not the employment contract yet?
Would appreciate any advice or experiences. Thanks!
