Question on Teaching?
I’m exploring a career change into teaching in Hampton Roads and would appreciate some honest feedback.
I recently finished a 27-year career in telecom leadership and learning & development, where I led training teams, designed curriculum, and delivered leadership development programs. I also have a Master’s in Education, though my focus was adult learning rather than K-12.
Are schools in Hampton Roads actually hiring for Social Studies, History, or Business teachers? Would a district realistically hire someone on a provisional license while I complete the required certifications and endorsements?
I’d love to hear from current teachers, administrators, or anyone who has made a similar transition into education. Thanks!
