No period in 3.5 months
I am a 24 year old woman and have been having periods since about age 15. They have always been irregular (ranging from 28-80 days in cycle length) but this is the longest I’ve gone without a period. My average is typically 55 days, but I am currently on day 109. I know I should probably go to the doctor, but I’ve brought up my concerns before and they have always been fairly dismissive. I’ve been told to eat more (I am not anorexic or underweight), that it could be stress (I don’t feel particularly stressed), or that it may be from working out (I get moderate exercise 2-3x per week). None of those feel like the cause to me.
I have gotten my thyroid checked - my thyroid levels are within normal range. I have gotten an ultrasound which showed a totally normal uterus.
When they do come, my periods last about 3 days, with one day being fairly heavy and painful but the rest are pretty light and painless.
Has anyone else experienced losing their period with no identifiable cause? What else would a doctor check for? Is there anything that can help get it back? I would like to start trying for kids in the next year or two so advice appreciated!
