How to handle gap around cooktop

How to handle gap around cooktop

The installer manual says not to caulk the gap around the cooktop, but the gap allows crumbs and liquids to go under the cooktop. I'm also being invaded by an ant megalopolis, so will taping around the gap work?

I read that caulking the gap prevents the glass from expanding and contracting and would cause the glass the crack? Would masking tape have this issue too?

Any advice on how to deal with the gap?

Can wall to wall carpet be laid on LVP?

LVP came with the house. There's nothing wrong with it, except that it always has a dirty feel underfoot, like walking on slightly textured plastic.

I'm used to the slick feel of real hardwood floors. I don't have pets or young children, so I'm not benefiting from LVP. I'd rather have carpet underfoot. Or tile would be better too.

Can I install carpet or tile right on top of LVP?

Planting Fruit Trees On Communication Hill

Would the the fruit be safe to eat when the tree is growing on asbestos laden soil? I'm only picking fruit, so I wouldn't be disturbing the soil, but there is a lot of construction going on in this area, which blows dust around.

Can this dust be washed off safely, and is the fruit okay to eat (does it pull up asbestos from the root) and is eating it a problem?

Communication Hill - Pros/Cons

The homes are good value compared to elsewhere, so I need good reasons to NOT live there. I feel like I'll have a large, quality home with a good view, but I'm still stuck on a hill and I'll always need to go up and down that hill.

I can't walk anywhere except that hill, unless I want to walk all the way down and up again. There's only one plaza below that's not too interesting. Also, is the asbestos an issue for walking around or gardening? There's still plenty of construction going on and will be for a while.

Anyone live there and can tell me what irritates them with living up there? There's the William Manly side and the Veiria Park side. Which is better? or worse?

Lack of Parking For Plumbers in Dense Housing Communities

I currently rent a typical suburban SFH, so I have a driveway for anyone visiting. Plus there's plenty of street parking.

In my future home search, I've also been looking at those small lot SFH that have NO driveway. They're like townhomes, except no shared walls. I see maybe 2 or 3 visitor parking spots and no street parking. I'm going to assume visitor spots are not always empty, so if I have to call for any type of repair work, where do they park if the visitor spots are taken? I don't think there's even space to park parallel in front of the garage door because they'll be blocking the narrow streets that go through the complex.

I like these places because they're newer, but there seems to be a big logistics problem. These homes are so densely packed in. How do people handle this? If I were to call the plumber, where do they park??? I've search reddit for this question, but I found nothing!
