Ignored by missionaries?

Hi r/Mormon, hoping to get a context/an answer to something that has been bothering me for *years*.... It's low stakes (and asked in good-faith).

In the mid 2010s, I lived in a fairly rough part of a Latin American city, and was one of very few gringos in the area. While entering my accomodation (owned by a local Catholic organisation), I met some Mormon missionaries on the street and had a brief conversation. They were also local, and as I didn't have many nearby friends, I suggested grabbing a coffee with them at some point. After an apology and a bit of a joke about 'it will have to be soda...' they left with a 'see you around' farewell.

I wasn't looking to convert, but have since learnt how active missionaries can be with visting/revisting, and it has always bothered me that, despite knowing where I lived and being open to chat, they never followed up.

My house looked like a normal one for the area (I.e not connected to the Catholic Church), and I was perhaps a bit scruffy, but apart from that have no idea!

Any clues?

Thanks!
