Another update on Rattle (Possible coyote attack, PA)

Thank you so much for your support of little Rattle! It has been almost 2 months since she came to us with two badly injured back legs. We had hoped that time, rest, and dedicated medical care would allow both to heal. However, after weeks of treatment, it became clear that one leg simply wasn't going to recover and we made the difficult decision to amputate.

Just a few days out, our sweet girl is doing well! She is comfortable, busy making biscuits, and settling into life as a happy tripod. Finally free from the leg that had been slowing her down, we truly believe this is the fresh start she deserved.

We'll be monitoring her closely as she recovers over the coming weeks, but we're incredibly hopeful for what's ahead. Here's to a new chapter, a little less weight to carry, and a whole lot of three-legged adventures!

If you are able to help towards her care, she and we would truly appreciate it ❤️

Update on Rattle (Possible coyote attack, PA)

Thank you so much to everyone who donated, boosted, or just offered well wishes for sweet Rattle! It has been almost 4 weeks since she was brought to us, and her recovery is going well. Her current treatment includes biweekly bandage changes under sedation, wound therapy, and pain management.

Unfortunately, we are not hopeful that both her back legs can be saved. As they continue to heal we will determine which leg is the most viable, and the other will likely be amputated. We currently have two tripod kitties at the shelter, so we know she can still live a happy, healthy life with just three limbs!

Thank you for following Rattle's story and keeping her in your thoughts. Any donations towards Rattle's continued care would be appreciated ❤️

Help for Rattle! Possible coyote attack [PA]

Her name is Rattle. She came to us after what appears to have possibly been a coyote attack. Somehow, through unimaginable pain, she is still eating, trusting, and fighting.

Rattle is around a year old, an outside cat. She has wounds all over her but her rear legs suffered the worst damage. We thought one leg was beyond repair. The bones are cracked completely in half and exposed through the skin, but our amazing clinic vet wants to see if her body can respond and start healing with intense intervention. Her other rear leg is also severely injured, but we are holding onto hope that with wound management, time, and patience, we may be able to save it.

Despite everything she’s been through, she is unbelievably sweet. Tonight she is safe and warm, receiving pain medication and surrounded by people who refuse to give up on her.

Please keep Rattle in your thoughts as she begins what will be a long road to recovery. We’re going to fight for her step of the way but we need your help! Cases like this are emotionally heavy, and so very expensive. But this is why our shelter exists. Because cats like Rattle deserve a chance, even when the odds feel overwhelmingly against them.

If you would like to help Rattle, donations toward her emergency surgery, hospitalization, medications, wound care, and continued recovery would mean the world to us. Cases this severe come with major medical costs, but every single donation helps give her a fighting chance at the life she deserves.

Today is Sybil's birthday! I posted last month that she is 13, but the vet thinks she is closer to 18 🥳

Wanted to share the whole litter! They were found without their mama but luckily they have a whole village to take care of them 🥰 Chichi is the runt but her Mimi says she is catching on the fastest to eating wet food slurry. I love these little convicts and they definitely belong in jail for how cute they are!!
