I know basically nothing about survival but what I've seen on the show.

Timber on season 11 kept saying the moose jerky he had was hurting his teeth/jaw from chewing so much.

Would it still retain the nutrients if he was to boil it and eat it/drink the broth? Or perhaps cut it into pieces and swallow it?
