Asurion Stole My RAM - IDK What to do
So I sent my gaming desktop to Asurion for repairs as I still had 3 months of warranty left of a 2yr plan off AMAZON. It came with 16gb ram single stick that died in April this year. I spoke to an agent before I sent it in for repairs, telling him about my purchasing a new 16gb of ram stick to replace the one that died and asked that they send it back to me if in the event the machine was not salvageable/repairable. He said he'd notate the account what I said and that he guaranteed I'd get it back, that it shouldn't be an issue to send it to me back.
They took my desktop, replaced the CPU/SSD and reinstalled Windows 11. However, before I even turned on the computer, I checked the tower itself. So Asurion DOWNGRADED me to an 8GB ram stick for whatever reason, which I was like, What the heck?! I called them up and asked why they downgraded me when they can see that the original product came with 16gb and when I could expect my ram back that I paid for. Well they told me since I 'self repaired' by putting in my own new ram that wasn't approved by the manufacturer, that I automatically voided the warranty on my product with them. Which fine, whatever. I didn't think me putting in RAM would void that in the first place (the guy I talked to before I sent it in didn't say anything at all about that).
And I asked again, when can I get my ram back that I paid for? They said again because I voided warranty they can't really do anything now to help me out but they would reach out to the tech to see what happened and their supervisors would determine if they can return it back, with an answer in 1-3 business days. Like what the heck BS is that? What right do they have to KEEP my ram? I even asked for a supervisor and explained to her the situation (she was some Indian lady I could barely understand) and she again said I self repaired so everything is null and void for warranty now and she said it was up to her supervisors if they wanted to return it. Like hello? It's mine? I have proof I paid for it?! Can they even do that?
I looked at the terms and service on my warranty plan and I'm not quite sure where 'keeping product/parts' falls under as it's not listed there. There was nothing listed about RAM specifically. I have no clue if Asurion has another 'warranty coverage' document elsewhere that they follow instead of what they give customers. Maybe someone else can point it out to me and/or confirm about me voiding the plan coverage due to my 'self repair?" I can provide a link to what it is on my account. I don't know what to do at this point for getting my RAM back so any feedback or tips I'd greatly appreciate it. I've attached what my plan covers and doesn't cover. If more info is needed I can share the rest of the document. I just want my ram back.
