I am going to live at The Outpost apartments and am wondering about the best option for renters insurance. From what I know, the landlord will charge you a fee to cover their things if you don’t have your own. Having your own though protects your things and the landlord’s things and is usually a better rate, if I’m not mistaken. I’ve heard Lemonade is good for students, my question would be how should I go about my plan? Is $10,000 too low for personal property, should you opt for a higher personal liability than $100k?

For those of you who fund your own school expenses and rent, I’m wondering if you work retail or food service or something else. I’m a server transferring from ACC but don’t want to entirely miss out on the college experience. Best days to be a server are Friday and Saturday hands down which means I think I would miss any parties or fun things happening. Then there’s fast food and retail etc. (maybe) lower pay but potentially more life balance. You could work a shift at the outlet mall, get out by 8:30 and then go out (I think). I have no idea what the job market is competing with so many students, and getting a job could be different in San Marcos.

I want to move in first and give myself a few weeks to figure it out but I’m wondering what you have found or settled with balancing your life as a student and worker

I am going into my third year of a business degree and moving to a college town, I will work but I am considering serving which I have done for the last 3 years or potentially getting into hotel front desk. Out of all my future career plans, hotel management is the one I’ve considered the most seriously. I would like to pursue an international career, maybe do the Marriott Voyage Program and move to LATAM possibly.

Option 1: Work as a server, make more money (maybe) and work less days, more options.

Option 2: work as front desk, likely make less money and have to work more days, gaining hotel experience and maybe getting to knock out some hw

When it comes to goals like getting sponsored for a visa to be a hotel manager internationally, I may consider working hotel sooner to make sure my résumé is as good as it can get, granted I will likely have to pick up more hours to make money.

TLDR; When looking at a fresh college graduate, how important is hotel experience for a management role/possible international assignment

I am wondering if any of you are involved in or know about social media management and what it entails. Is it mostly all freelance or are there employers who train you and you can work for them. Any other ideas about jobs that would work in my situation also welcome, thank you

I’m coming in as a transfer in the fall, and I’m looking to get some work. I have 3 years server experience, so looking to work in a restaurant. I’m considering either moving in august or trying to move to SM in July if my apartment allows it to learn the job before class starts.

What places are usually busy? What’s the best way to apply, indeed doesn’t seem to have as many offers up as Austin does. I also prefer to work with Toast POS. I’ve applied for pluckers but know there’s a lot of good spots.

Is now a good time to apply or should I wait until closer to fall semester?
