Starting work for new employer while on annual leave from old employer?

Hi,

I have a new job offer but they want me to begin earlier than my notice period at my current/soon-to-be previous employer ends. I do have a lot of annual leave build up so I could use that in my last days at my current job and just begin the new one.

I get paid via PAYE. My contract does not state that I can undertake work for external parties at the same time as working with them, but just that I have to notify them.

  1. I read on here a while ago that HRMC forbids a person holding 2 simultaneous full-time roles, even if just for less than a month. I can't find evidence of this online. Is this true or did I just read some misinformation? Would I be in conflict with HRMC if I worked at my new job during what is officially annual leave taken at the end of my old contract?

Thanks!

Edit: Location is England.

Citi AI entry role offer?

Hi all,

I received an offer from Citi for an AI role. It is an entry level role as per the job listing (but also they said they were looking for someone with 1-2 yoe?) and I just found out that it is C11 as per Citi's internal hierarchy. They're stating 70K income and I just want to know a few things:

  1. If anyone is familiar with Citi's system, can you help me contextualise "C11"? I read it can go up to C15 or higher which is MD level.

  2. Is 70K the standard pay for this level at Citi tech in London? Or was this offer made with an expectation that the candidate will initiate a negotiation?

  3. They mentioned a discretionary bonus. Is it typical to not state an average % in the offer? What are bonuses typically like at C11? I want to get a better picture of what my total income pre tax will be.

Thanks!

Anyone used Palantir AIP for an interview?

Hi,

I'm being asked to create a Palantir AIP dev tier (free) account for a take home assessment by a company. Only worry is that this platforms requires you to enter your govt issued ID and credit card details (not debit even) to sign up.

You won't be charged for your usage but I'm still feeling uneasy about it. If anyone has used this platform before at work or for an interview:

  1. Is it feasible to delete your bank info and the account itself after this 1-time usage? That is, without writing to Palantir's customer service, etc,. By feasible I mean a "delete account" button in the account settings.

  2. Has anyone had bad experiences with this platform charging you without warning for exceeding a certain "free tier" period thats only mentioned in T&Cs fine-print or something like that?

I've made accounts with GCP for interviews before and have been able to delete my bank info later on and ensure my usage is 0 monetarily, but I have no experience with Palantir (additionally, I know they do not have a very good rep for being safe or fair).

Thanks!

Codility assessment for Citi?

I applied for a GenAI Developer role at Citi (UK) and they invited me for a ~2 hour long Codility technical assessment. The thing is, it has been some time since I've had to do such a test so I'm rushing to practice but also not take too long to complete the test as they haven't given me a deadline for it. If you've taken their test before for Citi -

  1. Why is it so long? It only has 3 questions (idk them yet as I haven't started it). Should I expect LC Hard or Mediums? Or is it more data prep and analysis (which would explain the length)?
  2. If anyone here works at Citi's GenAI-leaning teams or has taken this test before, how much does it impact the hiring decision? Should I expect more general DSA questions or ML-leaning ones like BPE, KNN, etc,.

Thanks!
